So I've recently added being a vehicle gunner to my small list of specialties and just had a few questions regarding the skills.
1.) I know that the assault dropship skills add to the efficiency of the turret in game, but do the skills after turret operations apply if you're in a dropship that isn't yours?
2.) I've specialized in the small rail turret and was just wondering just how far the turret can shoot and still do a sizable amount of damage to my target.
3.) Is the turret turning speed skill worth getting? Is there a noticable difference with the skill rather than without it?
4.) Do you guys and gals have any other tips or info that I might have missed or just haven't realized yet?
Thanks for the help, and if you guys haven't skilled into being a gunner I strongly suggest doing so cause it's a really fun time when you have mics and an experienced pilot.

1) Your own turret PROF./REL. should have effect on your own turret. I'm not sure if the pilot's PROF./REL. affects all turrets or just his/her own.
2) A smallrail can shoot about ~150m before losing efficiency like the old LR.
3) Yes.
4) Wear a fat suit. ( -í-¦ -£-û -í-¦)

Dropships need a buff. This way they can stop derping everywhere . ;_;

1) From what I understand, the passenger with the highest skill's bonus get applied to all turrets. Meaning that a lvl5 Python/ ammo/ prof/ reload pilot's lvl0 gunners will have the same bonuses as he does. They do not stack though.
2) 200m for missiles (150m then a drop in damage) and 300m for rails (I believe; there may be drop off but I don't know the numbers).
3) I wouldn't know, though getting access to the fitting bonus might be worth if you feel like Rail-LAVing (tons of fun!).
4) Communication is always appreciated. As a hobbyist Missile w/ small rail tanker, being able to call out threats and targets makes life a lot easier.

Thanks for all the advice so far, those ranges will be extremely useful in the near future. I don't suppose anybody knows where I can find the exact stats and fall off damages?

Small rails have a range of 200m. Their optimal range is garbage outside 100m though, so it's not like it's even really worth use in anything besides AV. Unless you have a really good gunner.

1) If you have skills for the dropship they apply, if you don't they don't. 2) Maximum range is 200m, I believe it does full damage out to max range. 3) It doesn't affect the pilots seat as you really have to move the whole dropship. 4) Gunners should *always* be in caldari sentinel (or mlt caldari heavy) frames if they're going to be dedicated at it.
AFAIK pilot skills apply to all turrets on a dropship, but if the gunner(s) have skills as well they may boost things further. I have heard reports of pythons with 3 caldari dropships 5 people on the turrets boosting RoF through the roof.

Unless you have a really good gunner. yeah, but I do love two shotting just about every kind of infantry and even if I only hit them once that person is going to be severely injured to the point where anybody could easily take them down. Besides the small railgun I'm finding is EXTREMELY accurate even when the dropship is moving.

Small rails honestly work much better on LAV's than dropships unfortunately. On dropships they're prettymuch only useful for hunting other dropships.
