It got me thinking.
We want swarms to be legit without shadowing the Forge Gun, right?
What if the swarms did one big alpha blast of damage? One clip, really long reload. Can one shot militia tanks that have no skills, and the tank scales from there. Standard would need two swarms to kill it or so, proto would be more. Skills pending.
Get rid of the lock on and make it dumb fire which would allow the tanks to avoid fire, and give DS a bit more chance to live also. A side note with the dumb fire, since it is pretty much one shot, it would be diff to slay infantry with it, but you could still defend yourself with it if you get jumped. So reinstate good splash damage.
So with this outline, you can still AV with it but the forge gun would be easier to fire and have sustained damage, allowing it to still be formidable.
Not sure about numbers, but it is a preliminary idea.

Swarms should remain a lock-on weapon. They're they only weapon that can hit tanks reliably around corners.
I just wish we had a way to lock on without requiring the 'engine' block (in between the tracks area) to be visible.

Not going to say what every poster before me has already said.As much as I'd like dumbfire added back to swarms, I'll be honest in that form, I'd use it against everything but tanks. I'd oneshot people from downtown.

The way I see it, in order to make light AV reliably competative, its gonna step on the FG's toes. How do we get other AV and still keep the FG relevant?

I think the problem would be that everybody would take the swarm launcher and turn it into the ultimate shotgun.

Swarms are fine, buff them anymore and you'll have people who can solo a tank or ADS with ease. Which shouldn't happen due to the overwhelming cost of vehicles (proper vehicles, don't throw us true users in with those tank spammers). Taking down an ADS or tank should be either a tank vs tank, ADS vs ADS, or a team effort on an infantry standpoint.
But, honestly, your idea isn't all that great. It's basically a PLC with lock on.

Idk think you could ever solo a dropship with swarms. They get a passive -45% damage from swarms.

TBH, Until it takes more than one guy to run a tank, they should be soloable but that is a diff arguement.
