This is caused by NOT DECLOAKING when "speed swapping" fits at depot. You MUST decloak in between swaps. The easiest way is to either shoot the gun or take one step back in between swaps.
Yesterday, I was UNABLE to get the sound back. Had to suicide to fix it.

If you get in a vehicle or swap fits while cloaked the dulled sounds will stay until you recloak and then decloak.

It is WHEN you have a cloak module installed.
When players swap fits, you are cloaked for a few seconds. This is what im talking about.
Here's an example. Im in a hmg gun fit and im almost dead. I waddle to depot, swap into a scout fit and right back to HMG. THIS is were the magic happens. If you don't move in between swaps, you will be deaf until you die.
Sometimes you can change to a diffrent fit and sound will return. Sometimes not. |

This game has many sound issues.
Sometimes I get this one at the start of a match.
I am also not sure how many are just simple bugs or lag induced

Often happens when switching at supply depots - new suit that doesn't even have a cloak on it (e.g. sentinel) will have muffled sound.
The same when getting into a vehicle with a scout. You have to hop out, activate cloak, then deactive cloak, to make it go back to normal sound.
The stupidest one I've encountered is, if you end a game in a scout, sometimes you will start the next game uncloaked but with the sound muffled, even if you don't have a cloak on the new suit.
Basically CCP have made a terrible mess of applying the 'I'm cloaked so my hearing is muffled' sound. |
