I've recently had a change to my gaming schedule so I started tanking just for a change of pace and it was actually pretty fun.
I never tank, I mainly play heavy, scout and logistics almost permanently (with the occasional Commando to vary it up some more), so my role is 99% infantry based, with the occasional Dropship to get onto high places for the good of the team (uplinks/ammo etc).
So I whipped out the Rail tank (MLT Sica) and had a drive around, mashing up unoccupied and enemy installations, perusing the overview map to spot incoming vehicles and generally playing at a much slower pace than normal, and having a good time. Yes I get popped when a 'real' tanker comes along but there is a good chance of getting a sneak attack on enemy LAV's/Dropships/Tanks and dispatching them with 4/5 shots which is nice.
I've yet to get the hang of the modules - the hardener is easy enough, pop it on when you take significant damage from a rail or when you know you will be engaged, but I feel the shield repper thing is more difficult to use, timing is important.
Everyone (with the money to be able to) should have a one of EVERYTHING by now, one or a few of every module, vehicle and weapon in the game, so why not whip out a Militia tank and pootle around? mine only costs 78k and with a free suit it's not dissimilar to a advanced/proto suit.
It's worth using the HAV's once in a while just to see how they perform - I cannot get on with the Soma, much too slow and can barely turn corners.
Having said that, the incredible tank spamming at the moment doesn't need any further encouragement.. try it, once in a while at least, it's fun.
Part time Logi,
Full time heavy.

As MLT Modules essentially invalidate massive amounts of Tanker SP investment.....yeah.....Rail Tanking with a Sica is a cheap and extremely effective asset.
