I think they have a lot of the infrastructure in place from when walking in stations, they mentioned mercs\pilots being the ones to control the social aspect of it all by for example renting a socket in a station and putting a bar in it. This bar would act as a social hub where the owners could hire npcs to serve drinks etc.
When they released the first WIS patch the pilots collectively **** their pants in rage and demanded the game be about spaceships and not this silly walking in stations. As such they focused on not patches of content but rather patches that contained nothing but balancing for almost every year since.
I'm sure a social hub would benefit both games.

Tl;dr SoonGäó Not sure what game you've been looking at, but Eve's expansions have had content in them. Yes , they've had rebalancing as well, but the ships needed rebalancing. They've also been focussing more on fixing the bugs rather than just adding more with new, largely unasked for, content. And walkng in stations has ad lots of development, they're just calling it Dust 514 now. Because Eve doesn't need walking in stations as much as it needs things like changes to the sov mechanics for example.
But back to the actual point of the original post, I agree that Dust needs a much better social side to it for it to improve, even if it's only for mercs right now. But it also has bugs in the core mechancs that are more important to the overalll playability of the game for everyone.
Woman.
Sniper, but from near the opponent's redline more often than not.
Not a KDR Worshipper.

http://www.eveonline.com/expansions/
Look at the expansions since incarna and tell what new content has been added. Ships do not count as content in this instance.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I just miss those huge expansions of yesteryear that promised entire new career paths or added new places to explore(ghost sites and new site mechanics scratched that itch to an extent but nowhere near apocrypha or incursion) and man I just want the whole WiS to be implemented to change the game to something more immersive but also to make it seem that combining Dust, Eve and Valkyrie is something possible.

Tl;dr SoonGäó Actually a significant portion of them were looking forward to the expansion. What they got pissed about was that after all the hype all they got was a single room that couldn't even have multiple players in it and then the addition of ridiculously overpriced cosmetic items. |
