Heavy precision 55 db Logi 45 db Assault 50 db Scout 40 db
If it's based off of suit size or speed then it makes no sense. Does anyone know? |

It actually would make sense if basic light suits were 45 db instead of 40. That's the only thing that's off. |

assaults should have a hard time being stealthy. they are frontline suits...is it really that hard to see that? or you just want what the logis have? |

They have a hard time being anything, because the scouts are already doing it for them.

The stats would make sense if they were like this:
Basic Medium Frame - 50 db (base) Heavy - 55 db (+5 for size) Light - 45 db (-5 for size)
Assault - 50 db (medium frame) Logi - 45 db (medium frame - 5 for role) Sentinal/Commando - 55 db (heavy frames) Scout - 40 db (light frame -5 for role)
The only suit that doesn't match up to this is the Basic Light Frame. |

scanning should anyway be based on range and obstacles, e.g.: assault suit has scan precision 50 and Scan Radius 15m. at 15m his scan precision would be exactly 50, the closer the target is to him his scan precision increases. if there is an obstacles between them, the precision decreases.
scanning, dampening, cloaking and everything else related would be fixed but instead we have this totally ******** binary mechanic. everyone and his mother knows that binary mechanics have no business in current games, binary mechanics belong to the museum. |

I agree about the range thing but obstacles should have no impact on scanning - the whole point of scanning is to be able to 'see through things'.
An analogue system like you say of optimum scan range being full precision and then drop off from there, much like weapon dmg drop off would be a great way to do this. The current binary system is one of the reasons there is so much b*tching about scanning mods these days.

You know what, two months ago I would of completely agreed with the above statement. However during 1.7, when PC was plagued with Slayer logis and 360 scans I decided to mingle with complex damps on my assault fits. You would not believe the amount of success and flexibility I had after making this simple switch. I think people just fail to realize how advantageous passive and active scans really are, especially to those who need to be mobile like the assault class.
I personally consider stealth a legitimate attribute in the Assault role.
