Makes no sense.


EVE pilots are the ones with the freedom to be anything. DUST characters are supposed to be mercenaries. Hired guns to the highest bidder. The present mode for FW is causing lopsided play because of specific alignment to factions.


I have a Minmatar char. She uses Gallente equipment. I'd prefer to fight for Caldari faction though if I have to choose. I need the Gallente LP for the gear though. I would rather fight for whoever and still be able to fund the type of gear I use.


Randomized factional matches with generic LP would make more sense and make FW work better in this game. Race of character does not matter in this game so why should anything else? Support for a faction is largely a roleplaying aspect and can be independent of character race or gear choice. There is no need for actual alignment through in-game mechanics. It serves no function now other than to get the type equipment you use.

Even then, again, roleplaying-wise DUST characters are mercs, not regular faction military. As it is, if you are not fighting for a specific faction based on roleplay, then you are doing it for your choice of gear. Enter FOTM concerns and things can get bogged down further.

The worst thing this game needs is more imbalance through specific faction alignment. FW as a game mechanic needs evened matches to keep it moving.
