This would address the following
- Abusing supply depots and allowing a single person to drop an unwieldy amount of equipment by switching through suits.
- Equipment spam as a whole giving a team with an already defined SP advantage even more staying power (in Dom.)
- Would further incentivize the specialized use of deployed equipment logis (Caldari/Amarr) for their bonuses
... while not being as harsh as having the equipment being gone after death, this still creates a need to use Dropships and other vehicles to get equipment in specialized places while not forcing those players to stay out of the battle entirely in order to ensure those strategic uplinks stay in place.
To mitigate problems with wanting to restock deployable equipment (Uplinks/Nanohives) then Supply Depots should restock them in the same way they restock Remote Explosives / Grenades / Everything else.

CCP should also make logis so that they even can't move and shoot, just look around.
Playing logis would be so much fun. |

Kind of wish there was a thumbs down button for bad troll attempts. The issue is real bro. Link spam can be as bad as vehicle spam and can single handedly give one side an unfair advantage. Not to mention the ******* lag it creates (equipment spam not just links).
and he said unto them, "Bring ye all your trolls, that they shall feed".

I wish there was a button to let you realize that there are about 100 topics about this issue and that better solutions were given that doesn't make the logi-role even more boring than it is now. |

There are a lot of discussions for preventing Equipment spam already in the forums. This idea is not new. My Favorite one is only active equipment. https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=143120
Making this changes:
- Reduce max deployable to 1
- Give more Health-points to equipment increasing by meta level
- Make it that equipment can be hacked
- No equipment slots for Assaults-Heavies-Sentinels-Commandos suites
- One equipment slot for Light-Scout-Medium suites
- 4 equipment slots for Logistic suites
Will give us this results:
- Reduce the number of equipment in the battlefield and make it more important to deploy it smarter and defend it.
- The logic can have his role back after the equipment nerf.
- Players without equipment slot can hack enemy equipment and take WP for the hacking and if a team member uses them.
- New players in Starter fits and Medium suites can get a role as semi logi to earn WP.
The following ideas are from other ppl and are independent from my idea above. Most of them don't support my idea but thought of other solutions that i believe can work also.
A idea from RKKR
RKKR wrote: Hives? Limit the lifespan of a hive to a certain time...say 30 seconds for example, after a hive is deployed a cooldown starts before a new one can be deployed and let a logi drop infinite hives down.
Limiting the lifespan of nanohives is interesting but giving infinite hives will make the logi role less needed and there will be no need for higher tier nano hives.
A idea from John Demonsbane
John Demonsbane wrote: make it so you can't drop nanohives within 20m of a supply depot or uplinks within 20m of each other.
This is a great simple idea. How much meters the limit will be can be discussed. We have to consider the distance between the floors. Placing a uplink on the top floor should not block the deployment of a uplink on the floor beneath.
A idea from ADAM-OF-EVE
ADAM-OF-EVE wrote:we need the remaining pieces of logi equipment to become active rather than deployable.
scanner, active rep tool, active , tells you who needs healing
so why can't we make hives and uplinks active
players brings out a nanohive, it shows an ammo bar for all players in range showing if they need ammo. if they do you turn on the hive and fill them up. when they are filled you move on taking your hive with you.
the same would go for uplinks. someone needs a spawn in, you turn on your uplink and they spawn in on you. no more spawn killing, no uplinks in places they can't be killed. brings a new role to scouts sneaking into enemy bases and letting players spawn in on them without the enemy knowing.
there is reason then to make them never deplete like repair tools and scanners. this in turn would bring down logi fit costs and remove every piece of spam in the game
This will help the game

One solution (which I advocate always in such topics) would be to add a bandwidth parameter to suits. So for example a logi suit would have 100 bandwidth units, scout suits would have less and other suits would have close to 0.
Then you can make the total bandwidth stack against the squad or team, so for example if you were running a full squad of logis you could drop equipment for a total 600. Now when half of the squad switches to suits with 0 bandwidth the total bandwidth on the field would be 300, so some equipment (preferably that deployed by the persons who switched suits) would go down and either self destruct or sit idle until the total is 600 again.
Of course this doesn't have to stack for squads and can be limited to the players themselves.
This affects only deployable equipment, needles, scanners and rep tools can stay as they are. |

bandwith, nice idea. What you suppose there isn't quite ready to implement, but a good place to begin from.
Came back to Dust from a break and what did I find?

My problem:
I tend to use uplinks to get my team into tactical positions but when a tank shows up I change to keep them at bay. Your suggestion would mean that I can't grant my team tactical spawns and suppress the tank spam at the same time.
I have many suits with different equipment (I have use for every single equipment item) and most of them go unsued when I have logis on my team (if they do there job that is).
In the end you are restricting my ability to adapt to the changing situations and I just can't support that.
