New Eden isn't as harsh as everyone likes to make it out to be. Started a free trail the day and I was just wowed by what I first saw. Ten freaking canisters floating there in the start area full of stuff for new players to take (it said so) and there was even a default help channel just buzzing with activity of new players asking questions and older players lending a helping hand; when I asked why I was stuck on an agent mission one; one guy pointed out I had skipped over some text which kept me from completing the mission.
Within an hour I had gotten 10 invites to join training corps and even had a GM send me a pm asking how it was going and if he could help any and pointed out how losing skill points worked if I didn't have a good enough clone in reserve. Oh and the tutorials actually do a good job explaining everything to you it seems and the in game evelopedia allows you to easily look up things not mentioned or you had forgotten (if you don't want to do the tutorials again).
Been playing 3 days so far and it's been quite an enjoyable experience.

Yea, welcomed to now. The NPE of EVE is WAY different now and more open to new players than what it used to be. But once you come out of your nice lil cubby hole, you'll see the evil side of EVE. Good to see you got a nice warm entry though.
Glad you liking it though. One day I will be capsuleer. I just have to know what its all about

But your just a few jumps away from the true new eden. I think my 10th day in I lost my first ship, I was just hauling some cargo from two stations 1 jump away and before I know it my ship gets popped in 3 seconds flat. (For a 5m cargo loot which is nothing)

Those cans closing in newbie systems are bait, unless they are blue. Take anything from it and you'll be flagged for combat.

I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, its refreshing to hear that EVE's NPE isn't so horrible anymore.
The NPE is something that EVE devs, alongside the community, have improved and built up over years. Everything from the tutorial missions to the massive social programs the players run. It has been a slow process, and is still ongoing, but its much nicer these days than it used to be.
If you want to see the darker side of EVE in action though, head on over to Jita today. It should be... interesting

I had a similar experience with EvE. On my first day with the trial I was greeted by a GM and asked a few questions about how much fun I was having, which was a fair amount I might add. He then pointed me to the Sisters of Eve Questline be a use he though it was a particularly good one.
Was a very good experience overall.
I never got free loot crates outside of my Academy though... lucky.
