Since I have poor vision, naturally I rely on my ears. And I have hypersensitive hearing, due too my autism and I also have hyperacusis. So, in-game, I rely on call-outs from squad mates. Its not that I cant see them, even though there of course times I cant, its just I have such a hard time using my eyes instead of my ears which as I said I always rely on. And peripheral vision is a lolno. I have peripherals I just have a hard time using them.
Here's a quote from wiki 'A person with severe hyperacusis has difficulty tolerating everyday sounds, some of which may seem unpleasantly or painfully loud to that person but not to others.'

Do you play with a headset that does a good job of simulating 360 degree sound location? I almost feel like you're in the wrong game, you could be amazing in games like CS where hearing footsteps is a colossal advantage.

I use oh man whats the name, uh, earbuds. I'm looking for a good gaming headset. My fav gaming store has some good stuff and some nice people i'll ask them. NVM what headset did you use? I've actually played CS and loved it. I play TF2,warframe, some others, but in TF2 its like, 'I'm sneaking up on you sniper,' And I'm like, 'I know, I can hear your footsteps Spy.' Saves me some backstabs.

If you've got cash to throw around, you can't do better than a Steelseries headset for comfort (seriously, the most comfortable thing ever, you could wear these for six hours at a stretch and not even notice) and sound quality (http://steelseries.com/products/audio/steelseries-siberia-v2 is their most affordable option). Otherwise, something like the low end of Turtle Beach is probably your best bet, which shouldn't run you more than 40 or 50 bucks.
I don't actually use a headset anymore because I don't play seriously enough to warrant it- I'm usually watching TV/anime or listening to music instead.

There's some Turtle Beaches that I use that are $40 on Amazon.com. Cheap and good headset. You can control ingame chat and game volume with two different switches.

I use a sony pulse elite, has amazing surround I am almost completely blind in my left eye and my left ear compensates for it, decent surround can make a world of difference, i can hear scouts running up on me unless im in a firefight in which case i get shot in the back

The skull candy slayer headset has great sound quality. My mic is a bit buggy, but I did get it used. Super comfortable headset, and you can disconnect it from the control module and use it like regular headphones. Haven't tried it with phone calls, but it would seem a likely option. |
