I made SEVERAL posts about this before 1.8 and never got a response from them on this... the only assault worth playing, really, is the Amarr due to the massive bonus with SCR, which maintains superiority over most weapons.
CCP doesn't seem to care much...

Caldari don't need a bonus to Reload, they're long ranged fighters, meaning they should have all the time in the world to reload their weapon.
I'd like to see Gallente get a bonus to something that increases their DPS, something like +3% to Plasma Weaponry ROF per level. But that wouldn't really help the PLC / Ion Pistol.
The problem is deeper than that... the assault suits natural stats are **** poor compared to the others. You have to waste low slots to stay off scans, you have to add other modules for survivability that the other suits don't need... there is to much waste in those suits to use them.
I have always been Min assault, and will stay Min assault, but the suit is garbage compared to other choices... even now, any logi suit is a better assault than an assault suit.
ETA: on this character I have 3 proto suits (min assault, min commando, and a scout...). On another account I have prototype Gal Sentinel and Amarr Sentinel... on another, proto Amarr Assault... the only suits I find viable are the heavies, my scout, and my smart assault.
Commandos are high damage point defense... to slow, no grenade, and otherwise trash stats make them useless in a city assault.
My assault is fun, but outside of the Amarr assault, most city and outside point "assaulting", the suit suffers from bad innate stats and poor fitting capabilities to make it useful. Scouts, heavies, and logis are the only viable suits right now... with assault being viable, but on gimped legs and with a huge sign saying "I AM HERE, SHOOT ME!"

Yea, I love my combat rifle :3. Played SMGs only in CoD, so it gives me wonderful feelings of the P90 and UMP45 from MW2

Min Assault is just horrible, I specced into it before the Dropsuit Command Respec and tried it out in a PC. Never again, at least not until its buffed, the tiny bonus to speed was just pointless, Min Assault needs an extra low, and Shield Modules in general need to be looked at. Regulators and Extenders should both be buffed, Regulators should receive an extra 10 or 15%, and Ext. need their PG reduced. There is no point to use an Assault for anything ever anymore.
I feel like I have mastered that suit (not like Noein or Regynum, but I am darn good in it), and I find a scout with half its hp is more viable.

Min needs more speed, better module layout, and a native bonus worth a damn. hell, maybe hp/sec back (as that was the ONLY saving grace of the suit) and a better scan profile for all assaults?
I like the +25% to clip size... but it does nothing for me if I can die quicker than I could use the racial in.
Fix for armor plates: +1/3/5% scan profile per armor plate (basic/enhanced/complex in order)

I didn't want to mention the shields... mostly because the lower recharge time is nice, but being unable to run shield energizers makes my stomach feel all kinds of sad.
worthless damn suit... but still a lot of fun to use *shrugs*
