A match was nearly over and I spawned into the MCC and found a AFK sentinel A/1-series so decided to target practice with my Ion pistol
I noticed that the shield resistances were coming up 107%
I have proficiency 3 so my pistol should be 119% to standard shields
Even assuming his max skills it should be 109%
Even assuming weapon proficiencies don't display on allies it should be at most 106% (I've never really checked before)
Even if I recalled incorrectly and it was only the A-1 (so he may only have level 1) the skill levels at 2% per level
Now if you look at this vid by Cyrius Li-Moody at between 0:30 and 0:45 he engages both an enemy Amarr sentinel and a commando with his SMG. Both at the same distances (10 - 15m according to display, well within range of the ASMG)
Whenever the reticule is on the commando's armour it displays 119% (so reasonable to assume Moody had prof 3 in SMG's) but when the reticule is on the sentinel it displays 109%. If the skill to projectile damage is 3% per level it should never be -10% exactly.
I'd like to ask for a quick look at the skills to see if there has been some mistake. I admit this vid is from before the recent hotfix I have no evidence if this is still the case.
I'd also like to request looking at the other sentinel skills while were at it just to be sure.

If it's an Amarr Sentinel, it would have no resistance to your Ion Pistol since is a Hybird - Blaster weapon. Amarr shields are supposed to be resistant to Hybird - Rail but half the time I'm not sure if the Resistance actually work. Especially my armor resistance to Combat Rifles never seem to do me any good.

Dammit yeah I forgot. Was thinking of Min sentinel to armour 
But still the point is valid vs projectile damage and I can't deny that there was a resistance to my pistol.
I agree, I've wasted Amarr sentinels with my SMG. I know I have prof 4 so it kinda debuffes the resistances but it still takes a very short amount of time. I've always attributed it to the enemy using a lower tier suit with less protection but after noticing the resistance differences and going back to youtuber's vids there does seem to be something up.

Do remember the insanely high rate of fire on things like SMGs and Combat Rifles... even with damage resistances, they are still throwing a lot of bullets at you and your larger hit box as a Sentinel, meaning more hits which leads to the damage building up... and this is coming from someone who regularly runs an Amarr sentinel, and has been on both ends of the combat rifle, SMG, and HMG many a time (Just with the combat rifle being on my Minmatar Assault... yay for giant freaking clips, dakka for everybody!).
It can be hard to tell if the resistances are actually working, since proficiency, damage mods, distance to target, weapon rate of fire, and headshot modifiers can really mess with the calculations since it rarely ever is a case of flat out [Weapon Damage Type] vs [Sentinel Resistance].
