Gunnlogi is king.
I like nitrous, one hardener and one damage mod/complex extender.
Basically the trick is to not hang around; exploit your nitro'd speed and your inherent manoeuvrability to pump shots into your enemy.
Treat missile tanking like you're running a shotgun scout; the state of hardeners means you are going to lose a head-on fight. Therefore you need to play smarter.
Missiles are not for the lazy.
EDIT: my lows are usually 1x light rep 1x 120plate if I can fit it. If I can't fit a 120 plate I'll use a PG mod and a heavy repper instead.

Mr Gannarsein is usually correct with Missile matters, and I run the fit here but opt for the extender over damage mod for survivability. Speed is definitely key when it comes to missiles, you want to be quick and you want to constantly be aware of your surroundings. I'd also advise you get level 5 reloading ASAP if you do not already, sometimes you just need a few extra missiles to hit your target.

Kill any armour tank in less than 2 seconds. That's what.
No.

I don't have any skills in tanks, so I'm not exactly an authority on the subject, but I'd recommend a damage mod, a hardener, and either a shield extender or a shield booster.
The turret has its uses on a Madrugar, but the hit & run style of the weapon makes the maveouvrability of a shield tank far more appealing.

I like to roam around with 2 complex heavy shield extenders plus a complex shield hardener.
I believe my lows are filled with CPU and PG mods.
Proto missiles, advanced small blasters.

I've had some success with adding small rail turrets to my missile tanks and having a few gunners tag along. Small rails eat away shields and provide extra DPS while you're reloading (and keep shields from recharging), not to mention DECIMATE infantry.

Pure DPS. If you fire the R1 (trigger) as rapidly as possible it can do far more damage in that short burst then another weapon.
That being said. I run all MLT tanks on super rare occasions. I'm terrible at it. But it is fun helping fellow tankers take out tanks and only tanks. When a blaster tank is attacking and losing to another tank I just let off like 8 to 10 shots and go from there. It is a suicide tank for sure. |

Guess I have to be the **** that disagrees.
But I do agree with the nitro hands down, speed is key when it comes to missiles. As you will be spending a bit of time reloading between shots. But I can also say that for a gunnlogi, speed can be everything given the superior maneuverability they possess.
Being that speed is key to most engagements (you would be amazed how tough it is to hit a gunnlogi with a rail running a nitro) I would opt either for a double hardened single damage mod fit or stacking damage mods with a nitro, then focusing on armor tanking.
High slots Damage mod
Damage mod
Nitro
Low slots Armor plate
Armor hardener (or another plate and repper)
Or
High slots Shield hardener
Shield hardener
Nitro
Low slots Armor Plate
Repper, Hardener, or another plate
But I also see a use to the extender (even though I don't view them as strong enough to compare to a hardener) working your passive regen and using your speed to accomplish that. But then again, I play to ambush and surprise the enemy. I spend a good deal of time just watching tanks on the field, noting locations from afar, and making my plans for attack from there.
When it comes to missiles though (unlike rails) more than likely you will have to reload once the engagement has started which can be painfully slow. Meaning the other tank will have plenty of time to respond to your input.
The main thing with missiles, isn't so much the fit, but the tactics you use with them. They are by far the hardest turret type to get the hang of as you aren't just going around popping tanks like nothing (unless you stack damage mods). Know and understand what tank you are going against.
Shields will receive less damage from missiles and armor will receive more. Know what you are up against, does the shield tank have hardeners, damage mods, turret type, ect. Missiles aren't the I win button like Rails tend to be. Play smart.

While they might have the highest alpha on paper, this rarely plays out like that in game. I run proto XT's typically without any damage mods. Battles can be rather lengthy. I spend quite a bit of time reloading and dodging shots.
I'm not sure what missiles really have that rails and blasters don't have. Missiles do bonus damage to a specific type, that being armor. So they are very good at busting maddies, but kinda hit a wall when they meet shields and shield hardeners.

If you want to get the feel for Missiles and don't want to break the bank, I have this cheap Sica fit I run when I'm low on Isk.
Sica ST-201 Missiles MLT Damage Mod MLT Shield Hardener MLT Armor Plate MLT Repper
Costs 102,810 Isk
I also have quite a few levels into various Optimization skills, so you may have to upgrade to some Basic modules to get it all to fit.
I've gone entire matches without dying in this fit all the while taking out multiple terrible Madrugar and Gunnlogi pilots(and of course Sicas and Somas too). You have to think a bit more when running with Missiles as well. Sneak up on other tanks and check the overview map often(while in a safe spot of course). Once you get the feel for leading targets with Missiles you'll even be able to easily take down dropships and disant sprinting infantry.
