I have been sniping at proto level for at least seven months now, and I can now say snipers are screwed now, but here is an idea to benefit those who skilled all the way into snipers while leaving those at level one and two in sniper operation almost untouched.
Okay so first off I'll cover the damage side of sniper rifles(without damage modifiers): Sniper rifle name - Damage per shot
Proto
Charge Sniper - 321 Ishukone Sniper - 229 Kaalakiota Tactical Sniper - 195 Thale Sniper - 355
Advanced
NT-511 Sniper - 219 C15 Tactical Sniper - 186
Basic
Sniper - 209 Tactical Sniper - 177
Damage side of Sniper rifles with triple damage mods respective to their tier: Sniper rifle name - Damage per shot
Proto - 3 Complex damage mods
Charge Sniper - 362 Ishukone Sniper - 259 Kaalakiota Tactical Sniper - 220 Thale Sniper - 400
Advanced - 3 Enhanced damage mods
NT-511 Sniper - 241 C15 Tactical Sniper - 205
Basic - 3 Basic damage mods
Sniper - 224 Tactical Sniper - 190
Okay, so I have an idea to make sniper rifles do more damage without screwing the whole balance of the game. Rather than having the Sniper Operation skill do nothing except unlocking the sniper rifles make it so the 'Sniper Rifle Operation' skill gives you 2% to sniper rifle damage per level.
With this skill active you would get these numbers(w/ triple damage mods to its respective tier and my proposed skill bonus): Sniper rifle name - damage per shot
Proto - 10% Damage bonus from Skill - 1.1277 Damage bonus from triple complex damage mods
Charge Sniper - 398 Ishukone Sniper - 284 Kaalakiota Tactical Sniper - 241 Thale Sniper - 440
Advanced - 6% Damage bonus from Skill - 1.100 Damage bonus from triple enhanced damage mods
NT-511 Sniper - 255 C15 Tactical Sniper - 216
Basic - 2% Damage bonus from Skill - 1.073 Damage bonus from triple basic damage mods
Sniper - 228 Tactical Sniper - 193
As you can see these numbers have more damage while not breaking the game.
Thoughts?

I can understand the notion but , why not just snipe from a Commando suit ???
I just don't get the three complex damage mod stacking , it's like redlining the enemy in a match but you have to throw orbital's at them non the less to prove your point .
Just not a fan of " overkill " .
I don't like the idea ... but you know anything that increases damage and people come running from all over in agreement .
Just don't get mad when the community asks for a nerf from the over saturation of snipers that this will develop if this idea comes to fruition .
+1 for creativity .
Stop asking for tiercide , your killing variety and the fun of this game at the same dam time .

Operation reduces scope sway.
Also, operation should never give damage bonuses.
Slightly increase damage for all rifles and give a 110% damage bonus for headshots instead of the measly 70% |

Which is a good thing.
Sniping in DUST doesn't get you insta kills like it does in, say, BF, but sniping in DUST is pretty low-risk.
Shotguns don't insta, I don't see why SR should.

If I get a headshot with a reticule bigger than the target, while having an officer weapon, it should die in one hit. SCRs can do this. so why shouldn't an officer weapon with a 5 round clip and extreme kick be able to?
Shotguns do and can insta-kill if you run enough Damage Modifiers.

snipers don't have a place in dust right now nor should they. They break the risk vs reward factor. Also as long as there is a redline you can camp from or bowl maps where you can cover large area snipers are cheap trash. I used to run a sniper alt but I did nothing for my team but pad my stats.
There is a reason why you dont see snipers in PC matches because no one is ***** enough to stoop that low. Also snipers need to give up on the idea that they should be able to OHK or fast double tap reds from a mile away.

Instead of playing with sniper rifle skill values or rifle dmg numbers, why not just tweak the dmg profiles for head shots and dmg to armor, its a simpler fix that rewards more skilled users.
There's also the problem of incredibly twitchy targets, rendering issues and lack of viability on the battlefield which means the only safe place is in the redline.
Get rid of the scope sway, give us variable zooms, and shorten optimal while increasing hipfire viability

We arent asking for OHK, we are asking that the sniper rifle be able to actually kill something other than militia without using half our ammo to do so

Thoughts? If you haven't noticed, the player base has become increasingly concerned with the new player experience. I'm not fond of widening the power gap between those with SP and those with very little SP.

Lag and pisspoor rendering in this game are far more devastating to the weapon than damage or other innate stats of the guns.

In this thread people have expressed a desire to oneshot bricked proto mediums. There is no 'searching' for someone who's already killed you.
To paraphrase something you've said about tanks in the past all of those counters (excepting the vehicular ones) are vulnerable to everything else on the battlefield. (I'm not sure whether that negates this argument, or your previous arguments, but whatever).
And no shotgun oneshots my proto medium. Nor should it.
Not until it actually takes skill to make those shots - point the reticle in their general direction and wait until it turns red does not skilful play make.
Oh - also rendering, making a dampened sniper near unfindable except by an experienced sniper of your own.
