Yeah its annoying as hell. Espacially if you chase a guy who has low HP and then he switches suits, gets a few secs invincibility and kills you.

Though, tbh, I'd bet it is a carryover from the cloak while spawning mechanic that got put in to help with spawn camping.

Well using a supply depot DOES actually count as a respawn , just without loosing the clone.

It's not so much an intended feature as it is a necessity to avoid glitches- It's loading the dropsuit, so there's not really anything to hit until it's loaded.

My bet is that CCP simply couldn't be bothered to, or didn't get around to, differentiating between switching suits at a supply depot and spawning in normally. My theory is that the difference is, when spawning, part or all of the invincibility time is taken up by loading everything around you, whereas switching suits at a supply depot doesn't necessitate re-loading all the models, so they get to exploit that spawn invincibility to the fullest.
