More importantly do you know what the server we run off does? its handles more than one game at a time. I handles Eve online server and Dust 514. Do you players you see on the game log is both eve and dust
i play almost cap my character every week, i have over 44mil SP but i am not logged in right now are you saying i am not an active player of this game? Yes i know what server we run off of i play both Dust and EVE. the current player dust players logged in right now is 4,000 but people who actively play this game is over 50,000. just because i am not logged in at this second does not mean i am not an active dust player. Okay... Are you aware of the term Active player? It does not mean you are currently playing, it means you play on active schedule or regularly. So if you look at the stats, you will see on the monthly cycle since last year its never gone above 4500... Keep in mind these are live feedback servers which records everything and stores things in real time. That means it records data per minute. so you can actually see per min in a month/day/week how many players are currently playing. So the end result is on the monthly cycle 4500 players... Current players online is not the same thing. yeah and there are over 50,000 players that regularly play the game... just because they are not currently playing does not mean they are not playing the game "on active schedule or regularly." where are you getting 50,000 players from? Edit: there is no 50,000 players. They don't exist. There is no number on that entire page of the eve charts that show 50,000 players.. Look at the live feed charts. http://eve-offline.net/?server=dust
50,000 is an extrapolation. There were currently 4700 players playing, there is a constant replacement throughout the day and not everyone will play every day. If you define "active player" as having played at least one game in the last week then I think 50K is a reasonable guess.
Because, that's why.

Rusty Shallows wrote:Those numbers don't take into account the number of people logging in and not playing. After 1.8 all three of my accounts started to be logged daily for the bonus SP. My active game time is generally once a week.
But you only show up in the chart while you are logged in., same thing with alts. The numbers playing is a pretty solid statistic, the guesswork comes in trying to figure out how players are cycling through.

How can you play more than one character at a time?

This means that we have the numbers to support the 50000 players a day. And if you look deeper at the player creation stats you will realize that people are character recycling like crazy to farm ISK. The account numbers are a farce. CCP benefits from them being inflated, so they do nothing about the rampant abuse.
Sometimes things look easy to fix but aren't, but in this case I really think it would be extremely easy to stop this. I have 4 accounts. I could use my 8 character slots not gathering passive sp to make 4 million a day and it would take about 15 minutes a day.
So I was in re war room reading posts when there was a big flap about a glitch and whether one corp was exploiting a glitch, while the other corp claimed they were ethical because they only exploited bad game mechanics, like locking districts. I'd ask them if exploiting this is ethical since it is clearly just a bad game mechanic. If not, what is the difference?
Because, that's why.
