I didn't say they would. I said they should. Slight difference. Although reading comprehension doesn't seem to be your stongest suit.
The community, especially the high SP pubbies, is toxic. It is infested with the most shameless scrubs I have seen in any FPS.
The community needs to be culled, and it isn't the lower rung guys who need the boot. It is the "elite", or those who pretend to be, that need to step off.
If a full reset made everyone in NS quit, pub ambush games might be a possibility for new players instead of the trainwreck they are now. If a full reset made AE hit the door because they were broke like everybody else, maybe PC would be more interesting than the circle jerk it has become.
Right now, this game is sinking. They can get the women and children off to a new one, but leave those of us who have a huge advantage to ride it to the ground. It is what we deserve for abusing the scrubs for so long.
If the game is not crap, some will stay. If the gameplay or community is what really kept them here, they will stay. But if they are only here because they can stomp noobs, or because of the massive bankroll CCP gave them(or for the PC corps built up), then those people will leave, and give space for a better community to develop.
Also, keep in mind, that there is no endgame for the pubbies. They can't get into PC, so all they have is pubs. So you force high SP players into pubs, because they are not good enough, or don't have the balls to play PC, and all they do is flex their muscles to prove how badass they are.
CCP needs to stop feeding the egos of scrubs. Lets see who would still be here after a full reset.

Total all ISK in game to be deleted. Divide it by the number of players who support this. Make all supporters begin at negative this amount of ISK and you've got a deal.

0/ by number of players who support = 0
negative 0 does not exist. You fail.

Any asset and SP wipe would alienate the core players that support the game. Revenue would drop sharply then increase when the newbies take the place of the proto stompers of olde. Then nothing would change except angering a group of people that potentially would have been life long customers of the game.
It would be like taking (insert your favorite game here) and the company saying "Hey guys guess what. All of your stuff is going to be completely erased because a bunch of people are too good at the game. Sorry (Insert troll face).
Right now I feel this idea only treats the symptom. We need to treat the root cause.

Unfortunately there is no real point to either an ISK+ Asset or an SP wipe until the whole advancement model is rebuilt from the ground up. Complete Teircide, complete skill system rebuild, complete in-game economy; otherwise in 12 months time we're back where we started for no purpose.
The only way to save this game is to do SOMETHING really really radical, a complete rethink and once that happened, complete wipe and relaunch.
Until that happens, no value in it, much as I'd enjoy the tears. |
