Dropsuit Operation
which leaves
Dropsuit Upgrades - Skills that are going to be beneficial to you no matter what you do, aside from vehicles I suppose. No respec needed.
Corporation Skills - Skills that if you already trained, you probably still need anyways. No respec needed.
Weapons Operation - Different weapons are useful in different situations, it's good to have options. Only time this is bad is if you A) Picked a FotM that got nerfed, which is your own fault for being foolish, or B) Got drunk and took Plasma Cannon and Ion Pistol to 5/5, which is your own fault for being foolish.
Like my ideas?

It simply depends on how many things will change, totally change. If there's no core change, there's no need of a respec.

Weaponry should have been refunded because it directly affected suit choice. I dont see how a respec is damaging as it effects everyone. Why is everyone worried that everyone else will jump on some FOTM bandwagon all the time? it will do nothing to people with 30mil + sp they will have what they want. It helps newer players more than anything. |

I agree with your main point but not for the same reasons. Everything in this game is useful to someone or some tactic, but the point is unless you pick and choose what works for you and your style. If you armor modules because you were an Amarr heavy and decide to go caldari heavy after the dropsuit refund, you're left with an investment for a different style of character. It's not enough to say that just because they would still benefit an Amarr character then they should not be refunded. Most people don't have enough SP to switch roles without taking a giant hit from the dropsuit upgrade skill tree. As for weapons, I just see it all as wasted SP. SLs are pretty worthless overall, shotgun nerf has people complaining, and when new heavy weapons are available I'm sure many people will abandon the HMG. Sure they might be useful in situations but that's the point of different weapons existing. It doesn't mean that here is an advantage to having every weapon at advanced over having 2-3 maxed out. I skilled into most weapons after they were nerfed for fun. I don't really regret any of those choices except the SL. My point is that this game encourages people to specialize. Partial respecs never really give people a real chance to move into new roles rather than get a head start at skipping into them after they've used millions elsewhere . |
