Now I don't know about you but surviving a Warbarge Strike is the highest achievement one can obtain....
April 13, 2014... I was sitting atop a mountain on my "Meat Grinder" HAV; desperately trying to shoot down a dropship. When out of nowhere I hear a the strike and see the laser targeting me alone.... I immediately activate my Fuel injector and desperately try to escape!! I took 2 hits and yelled to myself "C'Mon you fat bastard!!" Pushing forward with all my might I successfully escaped with little armor left. Headed back to base to heal at supply drop, thinking to myself... "I just made them waste a Warbarge "
What are some of your epic Warbarge survival moments?

yeah, sorry to burst your bubble, but surviving an orbital IN A TANK, WITH A FUEL INJECTOR at that, is not that difficult. try surviving an orbital in a dropsuit placed directly on top of you out without cover and tell me how it goes. i promise you, it's much harder than doing it with a tank.

I survived one in a scout suit with no tank.
The slash of one blast nearly killed me, but I ran out of it before the second one got me. Barely made it.

How about: rushing a proto squad with Pre-buff Recruit SMG's, twinweilded on a militia frame. They ran CONSTANT scanners, and they dropped 2 orbitals SPECIFICALLY on my head.
I survived the first one, and killed 4 proto suits(2 proto logis, 1 proto scout(brick tanked) and a Proto heavy) The second one, i only wounded one, who subsequently committed suicide.
:/ i was in a Mlt Minmatar medium.

My scout a/1 series survived a ******* hybrid s strike
It went untouched the entire battle, despite our team getting our asses handed to us. The enemy got so annoyed by my stealth-hacking that they tried dropping an orbital on me and missed. I was laughing as I stood just out of the killzone

I survived an orbital in a heavy suit by stopping and assuming the fetal position (crouching) and waiting to die...
I was rather excited when I didn't.
Still not sure how I was lucky enough to live through every hit, though. |

Currently I regularly Survive Orbitals in my all purpose Tank. Unless they catch me already weakened I can take a direct hit or two and a lot of splash before dying meaning I have plenty of time to get out of the blast zone. I've got a 7000+ armor Bruiser tank I play around with that can just wait out an orbital as well.
And if you want to know why I think people calling for a reversion to the old vehicle builds because they were "easier" to kill don't know what they are talking about: right before the vehicle respec I had an 11,000 actual (not EHP) tank that in one of my first uses I sat through a Double Orbital while stationary just to see if I could take it and I lived with a third of my armor left.
Bottom line, congratulations on your first orbital survival, but any well fit HAV can survive one if it gets out of the way quickly and a top fit damage taking tank can still just sit through one. |

In my Gunnlogi I had 3 OB's called on me about 3 seconds apart from each other. I didn't have a fuel injector, but my tank still managed to avoid destruction. I was the only on in the area, so I must have pissed the other team off pretty bad.

Most of the time that I survive OBs is by jumping off bridges, chanting "I'm going to make it" as an orbital is called on a hack point.
I've outran orbitals, it usually just wounds me though.

............. There was this one time at the very end of a game (10 seconds left), where a guy was tricked into firing an orbital at a summoned tank. See the thing about the spot I called the tank down in was that the RDV was forced to fly ABOVE the height that an orbital can hit at to deploy the vehicle, so the orbital flopped uselessly across the floor.
Of course the tank would have never landed in time (would not have been in range of orbital either within round limit), I just wanted to see if someone was dumb enough to take the bait.

I had a tank that could survive an OB on pure buffer back in Chromo.
(I was trying to see exactly how much damage they dealt; wanted to built one that could tank two. Never ended up building it unfortunately).
In 1.7 a triple-hardened Gunnlogi could tank an OB too.

I'll one up you, pre 1.6 i had a gunlogi, had an orbital dropped on me, i didnt run away i stayed in the same spot and took it, forgot what modules i had on.
Orbitals are only bad if you panic, you can easily run from them(you got a good 3-4 seconds after you hear the sound, only reason i sometimes die is i'm debating whether its my team's or theirs) or sometimes i like to pretend like orbitals are just rain drops, so i take shelter under or inside a building :) |
