I know that there are a lot of scouts that will come here and say that nk are perfect the Way they are but they are not.
It is impossibile that if I manage to sneak up on an unaware enemy and I can reach is back I m not able to kill him because he is running. Because when you hit with nk they stop your sprint, so a lot of time it is impossible to hit a sprinting enemy.
Other problems are strafing and backward walking. If the enemy is strafing because he is shooting to an enemy it is really hard to hit him even if you are behind him and he didn't notice you.
NK are high risk low reward. I m using them instead of another Secondary, I give up to something else because of their cost in pg, I am using them in the suit that was created for them (Min scout) but still I d do better with an smg.
How many times do you see a nk kill on the battlefield? Dont you smile when you see it? Dont you think "awww so cute!" like if it was obtained with a plc or a flaylock?
I love them but it is frustrating to be behind an enemy and be unable to kill him with the weapon created exactly for this role.

I love and hate them almost equally. Sometimes I don't even know why I try (and often I don't). The times I say screw them and don't bother fitting them, then I need them. Or I fit them and they fail utterly.
Hit detection and general reliability is my main issue. Theres also my great dislike of the general animation - A slice then a stab? really? from a freaking assassin/ninja for goodness sake do your research. Then there's when I see knifers get me killed rather than just shooting their target
And don't get me started on what I generally have to sacrifice on the suit to be a better knifer and still get killed by stray bullets

simple things need to be done to the KN 1. Charge while running 2. Small aim assist,( when in close quarters your enemy jumps across your screen allot) 3. Buff the standard version damage a bit, it cant kill enything

1) Anyone half decent with knives will tell you ... that'd be OP. To connect with a target from behind, practice sprint+jump+charge. It takes practice, but you'll get the hang of it; basic knives take too long to charge, so use Adv or Pro when practicing the maneuver.
2) I know exactly what you mean; an in-range target can move out-of-frame in an instant. If you're target's jumpy, landing your swipe(s) comes down to luck (which is bullsh!t). NK registration arc should be widened. Lateral strafing speed (all suits) should be reduced until core mechanics can keep up. Backpedal and backward-leap speed (all suits) should also be reduced.
3) Running with Knives is risky business, and running anything short of Proto compounds that risk. Basic Knives are terrible versus any target. Advanced Knives are consistently insufficient. Buffing damage at these tiers would be appropriate. Doing so would also aid the resource-starved Minmatar Scout, in that he'd no longer need to run Proto Knives (which are tough to fit).

No they are not, let s see what I have to do to kill a sprinting target. 1 I have to know where he is with him not knowing where I am. 2I need to sneak up on him and get really Close to him(1 mtr) 3 I have to jump while charging to kill him.
In other Games if you can reach the back of an enemy and he is unaware of you it is a free kill for everyone. In Dust it isnt not like this... Ok.... But I full dedicated to this Job, I have the right weapon (I had to give up to another secondary) and the right suit: Min scout.
If not a free kill it should be an easy kill. I shouldnt be asked to do a 360 double backflip to obtain that kill. Also if the target is not an heavy suit and he is strafing it is almost impossible to hit him.... Come on... |
