What if Caldari and Minmatar were to receive bonuses to shield extenders? At every level for every suit that is either Caldari or Minmatar, Shield Extender HP would increase by 10%. When one has level 5 in a suit, that bonus would then be at 50% which when coupled with a Complex Shield Extender would bring the total HP value of the extender to 99 instead of 66.
As for Armor Plates, how does a 5% decrease to speed penalty per level sound? So, if any Amarr or Gallente suit reaches level 5, they'd get a 25% reduction to the speed penalty of armor plates. This would mean that Complex Plates would have 3.75% speed penalties instead of the current 5%.
If my maths are bad, I apologize and if my idea is stupid, I will then leave the forums forever. |

I think Caldari should get more shields (spot on), Minmatar should get either a bonus to damage mods or shield recharge, Gallente should get a decreased speed penalty bonus OR an armor repairer, and Amarr should just get more armor (AMARR TANKING!!!).

I just realized I didn't put enough thought into this. I'd completely forgotten about Reactive and Ferroscale plates.

Any skill that effectively forces a player to a particular fit is a bad idea What if a cal doesn't want extenders and wants to deal damage? What if (like me) a min doesn't want to fit lots of damage mods?
No. I like the current bonuses. I can fit what I want but I get a perk if I match up weapons / equipment for my race if i choose to. it doesn't inherently change the weapon's damage or the functionality of the equipment.
On my scout I don't have to fit a cloak (though against cal scouts I'll take all the damps I can get!), I don't have to fit knives - my cheap suit is more profitable without them, I run Ion and SMG
e,g I get a bonus to hacking, but not codebreakers - therefore I'm free to forget them and still reap the benefits without them if I still have to hack. Much better way to go about it.

Caldari prefer more, keep your distance and hold the line style of fighting. Although they ARE NOT pinned to this philosophy.
Minmitar are fast, aggressive **** you up and gtfo style balancing armor, shield and speed. (needless to say they aren't the most defensive playstyle) BUT THEY ARE NOT PINNED TO THIS PHILOSOPHY.
CCP has a problem with taking Racial philosophies too far... When have you ever hear of an entire military only concentrating on Short ranged combat? Never, cause a military that did that wouldn't even last a second to survive.

For Minmatar, the same could be applied but to a lesser extent: about 7% per level and with a possible bonus to shield recharge rate.
As for Armor Plates, how does Amarr receiving a 5% decrease to speed penalty and 2% increase to HP value per level sound? So, if any Amarr suit reaches level 5, they'd get a 25% reduction to the speed penalty of armor plates as well as a 10% bonus to plate HP. This would mean that a Complex Plate would have a 3.75% speed penalty and provide 148.5 HP instead of the current 5% and 135.
For Gallente, what if they were to receive a 10% HP increase to Ferroscale Plates per level as well as a 20% increase to Reactive Plate HP regeneration and 7% increase to Reactive Plate HP per level? A Complex Ferroscale would then provide 112.5 HP while a Reactive would provide 4 HP per second reps alongside having 81 HP.
*Bad idea is bad* For a while, Caldari assaults had a bonus to shield extenders. What we ended up with were dual tanked Caldari assaults with heavy EHP around 1000.
Extenders and plates need to be made to give percent bonuses.
Also Gallente should receive a bonus to armor reps only. Stacking plates is supposed to be an Amarr thing.
Medium frame EHP is not medium
