Considering there is actually far more progress made in Dust compared to WoD, I think Dust will stick around like Eve Online. At least Dust was lucky enough to even be a playable game. WoD didn't even get into the beta phase before it got shut down. There is also the fact that Eve: Valkyrie, which is less than a year old in development, is already progressing almost as fast as Dust.
It seems to me that WoD just wasn't cut out to be a stand alone game in its own universe.

It seems to me that WoD just wasn't cut out to be a stand alone game in its own universe.
If they would have released it 4 years ago it would have perfectly caught they vampire boom but now it would seem an after thought. After all that time and money, it must have been a real mess, to just outright scrap.

Imagine how hard it was for the WoD team to explain themselves on how 8 years of development yielded little in the way of actual progress. But then again, Eve players did have an effect on their progress during the infamous Jita Riots of 2011 which resulted in nearly 2000 players unsubscribing from Eve which then landed on the guinness book of world records gaming edition 2011 for most player walkouts in a single month which then contributed to cut backs on WoD development.
