heya I dunno if this will be in the right section so admins feel free to move it if its not.
ok so Yesterday I found out that the 5,000 to 7,000 Sp I was gaining per match with my 7 day active booster was not to last as that's apparently "Bonus SP" & now I am only gaining 1/10th of the SP I was Originally gaining, so now comes to my question, what's the damn point in any Active booster over 3 days? I reached my Bonus SP limit in 25 Hours of game play over 2 days ? now I need 250,000 SP for the skill I desperately need & I am struggling to even get 40,000 SP, not to mention my friends then tell me "oh you have to wait until next Wednesday until you can start getting "The Bonus" SP again" soooooo basically if I play 7 hours a day as my Dropship Pilot for 7 days of the week I will only just get a skill that should theoretically take me only 2 days worth of hardcore game play =_=, I feel like there is no point a all, the game NEEDS me to get SP to get skills so I can be better at the game & not get constantly Proto stomped all the time yet at this rate its gunna take months for me to even get there =_= WOW nice marketing strategy CCP way to waist the 3 7day Active Boosters I bought from you =_=.
I mean seriously I feel like I am playing for nothing, with only Basic Shield Modifiers & Militia Missile Launchers I can get taken out from half way across the map by 1 damn Militia Rail Tank that costs 1/3rd of the price of my Assault dropship then limiting how many kills I can get in a match went he enemy team just spams 2-3 Rail tanks, not to mention if 1 of my dropships gets taken out I have already gone in the negative ISK wise for that match (I mean dont get me wrong I am a damn good Pilot but when you cant come down to shoot at people cus your position is being surrounded by Rail Tanks what's a girl to do ?), so Basically I am playing this damn game to bleed ISK & not get F all SP if any, WOW CCP you know how to show a girl a good time =_=
If you don't agree with me I don't care, I aint gunna be replying to your flames & hate mail.
ok Rant over... |

If you played 25 hours in 2 days, i.e. 12.5 hours per day, you're the exception, and should probably stick to 3-day boosters, or 2x 1-day boosters. Note: You should probably also find something else to do, than spend 25 hours over 2 days playing a single video game.
As for me, I would start a 7-day booster sunday, cap (hit the max Bonus SP) by Wednesday morning, then hit the next cap by Saturday evening, getting 2x Bonus SP+booster over the duration of a single 7-day booster. This, btw, is the most financially sound approach, unless you can hit cap in 24 hours and use a single 1-day booster (or in 2x36 hours, with a 3-day from Tuesday morning to Thursday evening).
Note: You're still getting 50% on top of your base SP after hitting cap - after cap, you're getting SP = WP, up to 1000 SP, which then reaches 1500 SP with an active booster.

well I was having really good fun with my too best PSN buddies who play Dust as well, I went pretty hardcore over 2 days & now I feel like there is no point playing the game any more until next Wednesday, I feel like I might as well get a 3 day Booster or 2 1 day boosters & only play the game 2 times a week which is BS if you ask me.
I know how the SP works after the Bonus SP but still when you have to be cautious of the endless supply of super cheap rail Tanks every match I can only manage 1,000 SP on odd matches were I just happen to do particularly well, hell I have even taken out a rail tank before with my assault dropship but because there so cheap the person just called in another straight off the bat =_= |

I hear ya. I think a lot of people complain about this. If you've paid for a booster, then it is irritating when bonus SP runs out and then your booster (based on percentage) looses its performance. A lot of people get around this by buying a 7-day booster on Sunday. They cap out from Sun-Tue and then after bonus SP is refreshed on Wed, they cap out between Wed-Sat.

Yes, I'm with you on that one Motoko (not that I was ever against you), I believe that advertising an item that doesn't work to maximum effectiveness "all the time" is not right. At the very least I'd expect the Boosters to have info on how the "Bonus Skillpoint Cap" works and how it resets, to give people an idea that sometimes 3 day boosters is more effective. To be honest I prefer the 30 day ones, activate it on Wednesdays and you get 5 weeks worth of bonus SP, it's way more cost effective than spanning 5x "3 day boosters" to last 5 weeks. However I don't stack my 30 day ones, I merely activate them on wednesdays. Also I sometimes wait for sales e.g. 50% off on 30 day boosters.
Once in a while the Omega boosters pop up which gives 2x the sp gain instead of 1.5x. So these can be pretty amazing for events, next week for example you could activate your 3 day omega for about 1,140,000 sp.
Back in the days "Bonus Skillpoints" used to be infinite - like, restarting every day, but they changed that, and as far as I can recall, CCP is still considering changes to the SP gain system? |

Just get the 30 day boosters and stop worrying about it.
If you play 20 extra games per week after capping and hit the 1,000 wp maximum, you will gain an extra 10,000 SP per week with an active booster. If you play more than obviously you would earn more, but an extra 500 sp per game after capping does add up over time.

Exactly, I prefer the 30 day boosters since not only is it more cost effective, but because it also allows you to gain more skill points in between the "Bonus SP". 1,500 may not mean much but when you do 20 games a day, you'd get 30,000sp. Now since you cap in two days, the rest of the 5 days you could get 150,000 sp - However that may be quite an effort. |

If you always want to have both boosters (Active and Passive), you are best off buying the 24k pack that gives both a 30 day Active and 30 day Passive. The price is the same compared to buying a 30 day Passive and buying four 3-day boosters to cap a month. If you don't want to run Passives, 3 days boosters have the least 'waste' if you can cap out in two or three days.
SP Rollover needs to happen. It will make the longer Active boosters more useful in the end.

I exhaust the whole weekly cap every wednesday. So i use 1-day active boosters, 'cuz they're the cheapest and it makes no much sense after capping.
3-days, 7-days and 30-days boosters are for people who don't have the time to play all day. For them it costs way less than spending 1-day boosters everytime they play.
I'd use a longer booster for SP events like the one we're having next week if i had better luck with my schedules everytime that happens :( |

In EVE you just gain SP passively.. There is no way to accrued Skill points actively.
In DUST you can grind out an Ambush in 5-10 minutes. If you get 1000 Warpoints you get your maxed out SP which is 1000 and 1500 with a booster.
Add that with your Passive skill points you have gained.
Then add your Daily Skill point reward for logging on.
If you do say 20 matches in a night of DUST with a booster you have grinded out 30k SP +Passive + Daily Reward. And this has nothing to do with your weekly cap out.
If you enjoy DUST or have enough ambition in it you can potentially grind out more Skill points after your cap out. Specially if you cap out in the first day which some still do.
When we have the Skill point event coming up. Say you cap out we will be getting 3x the Warpoints from a match. So you could do an ambush and score that 1000 Warpoints very easy and just run ambush all week after you cap out and get even more SP.
CCP Merely gives you the tool it's upto you to take full advantage of it.
When DUST 514 didnt have aim assist... And Every game was about improving your own personal abilities, Failing in one fight and coming back with a vengeance in the next.. It was Truly enjoyable... And very easy to drop every thing you where doing to sit there and play more. DUST is just to boring now for me to even cap out anymore.

Hmm, according to DustBoards you were born this last Thursday. So I can see you're pretty new here.
Honestly, the issue is not the SP cap and it's certainly not the boosters. What I see here is that your case is another case in a long string of similar cases that underline the biggest issue surrounding Dust 514 at the moment. The flawed new-player experience (NPE) or lack thereof.
You obviously didn't know that there is a weekly SP cap which was requested by the community back during closed beta in order to inhibit any attempts to max out the game in a ridiculously short amount of time. We obviously don't want to see new players go proto-everything in just under a month, now do we? No. No we don't. That may seem like a positive thing for new players (no SP cap) but it's also a negative thing for the new players since that would mean veterans will be even further ahead than before. But this is something I feel you should have known about this from the start via some in-game tutorial or some sort assuming it's in there somewhere. But even then, again, this just points out to all of us that CCP needs to overhaul the NPE so that new players like you would then know from day one about something as mundane as the weekly SP cap.

well the problem I see here to be honest with you is that the game needs to be spread out more, as everyone here will know there is 4 stages of weaponry, Militia, Standard, Advanced & Prototype, now if say each skill instead had 10 levels instead of 5 & instead of the standard 4 stages there was lets say 7 going Militia (takes no Skill level), Standard (takes skill level 1), Advanced (taking skill level 3), Intermediate (taking skill level 5), professional (taking skill level 7), Specialist (taking Skill level 9) & Prototype (taking Skill level 10).
If the game was spread out like this then there would still be a Large difference between players that have played for a long amount of time & players that have only been playing a short amount of time, BUT the new player would feel like there advancing, constantly getting better with the no Bonus SP cap, there equipment would be always getting better but still wouldn't be a match for the equipment of the long standing players, obviously some sort of balance would need to be put it when it comes to match making like for say a player with mainly Advanced gear will only be pit up against at highest a player running Professional grade gear.
I know something like this might take a wee bit to sort out but it would make long standing members still feel like there that much better then new players & that the new player cant get to there standard in a matter of a month or 2, BUT the new player would also feel like there constantly improving & working there ways up the levels unlike when I hit the cap I feel as though I am just stuck & might as well not play the game until my Bonus resets |

I only do 1 day boosters. The only time I do a 3 day booster is when I do a 1 day on Monday and then a three day on Tuesday so I can get the previous and future weeks boosted at the same time.
I actually ran 30 day passive boosters for the first 2 months I played and had great results. Anyway, it is a grind once you are done with your bonus pool.
The best method for WP/SP farming is ambush. Run a starter fit with uplinks. Stay cheap and just grind until the booster is done. Then take a break until the next week. It's how I make high ISK/WP/SP per hour. |
