With the new build out I want to fit a really good tank, but I'm unsure how, since the majority of tank rookie posts are outdated. Does anyone have some good information on how to build a decent tank? I just want to be able to deal damage as well as take shots and still be able to repair my tank on the field, I'm even willing to go proto if that's what it takes. Another problem what I have is when I go to the marketplace on the game and I head to vehicle mods, resistance amp fliers are not found. Or majority of the tanks/tank mods aren't there. Am I missing something? |

Firstly there are only 2 HAV types for only the Gallente and Caldari, the Soma and Madrugar, Sica and Gunlogi, respectfully.
You now have a number of choices ahead of you.
The first is to create a tank that is purely for you, only operable by you, and only capable of being manned by you.
The current meta dictates that 3 Heavy Repair Units is a very effective low slot set up for Madrugar HAV. Another possible build is 2 Heavy Repair units and a Hardener Unit.
I personally prefer to mount my HAV with small turrets which give my HAV added fire power that is so desperately needs against solo fit HAV, though it means my HAV is never at peak efficiency until I have 2 gunners working with me.
I'm not much of a shield tanker but I find 2 Rail Damage Modules and a Shield Hardner usually does me well when I take to shield HAV.

Opinion from a professional tanker is approved as legitimate advice.
Everytime I get a like, another bug is fixed.

Dats the fit I use I'm experimenting with a fuel injectors though Triple Rep is really good in pubs because people would rather whine then pull out the hard counter.

Lorhak does that, he loves recounting how he drives circles around other HAV blowing them up easily.
TBH though I still find myself wishing Infantry has some proper means of counter to the triple repped tank....statistically speaking they don't.
But yeah back on topic I find that there are two philosophies of tanking.
Reliance on Self- Where you gear modules to your own personal tastes and goals amd primarily build a tank designed to be purely for your own purposes..... these by far are the most common type.
Reliance on Crew- Very uncommon designed HAV since few Tankers like to rely on other players with the safety of their HAV at stake.... this is my preferred build. I means that your modules selections will primarily be geared towards what best suits your role. Tank Hunter, APC, Mobile Bunker.
But that comes down to the tanker at the time, as always there are some very basic combat fits which are considered the best of the best, you can use those until you develop your own opinion and style fo tanking.

In the same spot as the OP. Just started today and I want to be a tanker. Been looking for guides on shield tanking with missile/ rails on the forums but they are all outdated. |

Madrugar blaster 2x heavy rep at hardener Highs can be whatever you can fit in this priority: DMG mod, nitrous, scanner
Gunlogi rail gun or missile 2x damage mod and nitrous (<-my preference) OR shield hardener 2x heavy rep of you can fit if, otherwise, one heavy rep and a 60mm plate, hardener, or ammo pack if you really have no PG left
