I can't see any reason to come back even after months of being away.. :( As a veteran dropship pilot, things began to get really dull after their (relatively small) vehicle update, where they actually gave us some, but took away other things as well, so more or less just swapping stuff around for a (slightly) new feel.
That "new feel" nostalgia is exactly what has been missing from dust for pretty much this entire year, although for ground troops I'm sure the cloaks have brought a bit of a revive to replay value, but the cloaks matter nothing to a dedicated DS pilot like me. Another driving force behind my leave was the fact that dropships are pretty much impractical in PC, due to railtanks and Gastun's Forge Gun (but that's fair since it's an officer weapon) just wrecking the **** out of my fully maxed python.
Flying around in orbits and raking in kills from (often) helpless strawberrys doesn't stay fun forever, and the lack of new content is pretty much driving this game into the ground for me, and I don't see how other DS pilots are still sticking to their guns (literally) and staying around during this period of really... nothing going on at all.
Believe me, I'd LOVE to find more replay value in this game and get back in touch with all the other veteran pilots I knew (and still know) by doing new activities and having missions, or PVE, or just SOMETHING new that involves a fresh form of gameplay, but so far I don't even see that CCP has planned for anything like this even in the near future.
Some people will call me a "bitter vet", but I'm not an impatient gamer, I understand that things usually take time, but CCP Shanghai has redefined the expectation of how much time these developers need to just make a few adjustments to a few things. There's a reason vets are getting bitter people, and it's not one that should be ignored.
But there's always 2.0... and fingers crossed, CCP Shanghai has been putting all of their might and muscle into this update to release an impressive amount of new content. *Wish wish* *Hope hope*

There was a Railgun range nerf a week or two ago, if that helps any. :(

They are pretty balanced now, Serimos. They cut the distance from 600 meters (almost the entire map) to 300 meters. So, DS's can easily escape after getting hit once, regen, and then come back. It takes a coordinated AV squad to take down good pilots, which is the way it should be. |

Wow, well that's pretty good news. Thank god Judge Rhadamanthus brought such close attention to detail over railgun tanks. Without him we may have not received that hot fix! I may return then for a few matches or so, but damn i just wish we'd get some new material to use.

Another option is to run an infantry alt just to mix things up. Dust gets tedious when you only ever play the role you've specialized in. Alts are a great way to mix up your playstyles and break the monotony. I hope to see the missing Minmatar/Amarr vehicles and turrets along with pilot suits by June. Hopefully we'll get capacitors and Ewar by the Fall. That would really bring a ton of depth to vehicle gameplay.
Best PvE idea ever!
