Due to the additive effect of sustained firing, the amarr assault without doubt. That is once they get the amarr assault skill to start working. Until then (and for now) it is better to use a commando for the added damage.

I have both at advanced, laser prof 4 and this is what I've found out:
Amarr Commando
Pros: -You're not going to die as easily (250 shields and 600-800 armor) -Ability to fit a decent CQC weapon instead of a sidearm (I like the Assault scrambler, but an ACR would work too. -That reload speed bonus helps a ton because you reload a lot with the laser
Cons: -Slow as hell, don't expect to be moving around much -larger hitbox makes you easier to be countered by snipers/RRs -You don't have as much potential damage
Amarr Assault
Pros: -Much faster movement speed -Can stack more than 1 damage mod -The bonus helps you get that last bit of massive damage out of the laser when going against heavies
Cons: -If you are snuck up on, you will die very quickly and your sidearm won't help much unless you have good skills in them -Because you can't have a backup weapon, you might have to use a nanohive, or find yourself constantly running back to the supply depot -Proto amarr commando can do more damage than you even with two complex damage mods, but two damage mods is more than the bonus from amarr commando.
If you're looking at DPS only and can spend the sp, go amarr commando, get it to proto If you are looking for a counter sniper with the laser as a quick sp investment, go into amarr assault.
Also, two lasers is a bad idea. With scouts and stuff running around you don't want to be caught without a CQC weapon on your commando (but if you can find a good perch not easy to get to dual laser setup might work)

I guess i'll be the one to say it. When you aim down sights, it's way to sensitive. Every other gun has a nice slow drag when aiming down sights. Seems odd.

Yes! I have my ads set on 1, and id like it slower.... its most likely the zoom. Thanks for the input guys, guess I'll stick with the assault for now.

Laser Rifle is actually pretty decent at about 15-20 meters if you don't ADS lol

My personal theory is that when they buffed the laser's FOV, they didn't adjust the radians/sec sensitivity like they should have. The Thale's sniper has the same issue- boosted FOV, screwy sensitivity because someone couldn't be bothered to scale things appropriately.

The commando (if proto'd) will do way more damage upfront at the start, it has higher hp, less mobility and is capable of fitting another rifle as well. The assault (if proto'd) will have its damage spike towards the end, it has more mobility, slightly less hp, way more slots but is stuck with the laser rifle (though LR and Magsec are a really, really good combo). |
