Quickie Review:
Pros:
-High Alpha
-Insta-kills heavies (direct hit) and lights with good aim
-Rewards skill
Cons:
-There's a delay after you fire, preventing switching to another weapon, or to sprint, or even to reload.
-If you miss you're screwed
-Slow projectile speed makes it a CQC weapon for all except the most skilled players
It's a fun weapon, but not practical for use against most suits, not even practical for AV (unless you are really dedicated). It also takes a lot of patience and skill to use, and too much effort.
Design: 9/10
Usability: 6/10
Fun: 10/10
Practicality: 3/10

I'm convinced the plasma cannon was designed to be used on a commando suit
why??
1) Only 1 round means a fast reload is critical to getting shots off quickly....commando reload bonus plus weapon rapid reload will solve that no problem
2) Quite a bit of CPU needed to fit those things. Commando has plenty of cpu and pg so it won't wreck your fit....... completely.
3) Gallente gets bonus to plasma weapons...10% damage increase with suit bonus alone that's just more alpha or splash dmg to kill your target of course skill is a requirement. If you have proficiency even more insurance.
4) If you miss an infantry target you still can have an assault rifle or another infantry focused weapon as backup or to use a primary when infantry decide to focus on you.
Its hilarious killing with that weapon though. If you want to use it for infantry than your gonna need to ask CCP for an assault plasma cannon with bigger and harder splash and less direct damage.
Good luck with that. Last thing we need is another noob tube weapon. We all know how we like mass driver and flaylock spams

I also feel like the plasma cannon was made specifically for the Gallente Commando suit.

Also to add to that list. The bonus to reload speed is a necessity to have with the plasma cannon due to that long reload time.

I'm beginning to think the Gal commando bonus does not apply to the PLS, only blaster variants.
Nonetheless a dual plc commando fit with an lav drive by mentality is great!

IT MUST HAVE BEEN YOU - I died to a Plasma Cannon the other day - First time ever!
I was shocked and gave the guy props, but I did not feel bad. remember the old hunters saying:
The deer does not know the difference in the gun. Only the affect of the bullet.
Or maybe this was my fathers way of giving me the crappy rifle... |
