Quite a thing isn't it? :)
I've been an avid follower of railgun development since the 90's.
I just wish we could have some more realistic sound and graphical effects for the railguns. The whole "pew pew" sound is an overused science-fiction trope that really needs to be put to death.
Same thing with lasers. |

The Blitzer is the production model it will be the gun being installed on the test ships at sea and I think the first sea trials are either this or next year being bolted onto one of the three converted cruisers or one of the new zumwalts destroyers.

Not even close. Last I checked, these railguns operate in the megajoule range. They're not even up in 1 GJ. |

2016 is when they plan on test firing from a ship. As for the power of the gun, I believe it is 32MJ.
