Hi everyone,
From what I see there are only 2 heavy weapons to fill up that slot the average heavy suit has on itself, the Heavy Machine Gun and the Forge Gun. While both being equally deadly in their own given situations I believe heavy weapons should have more of a variety, more choices to choose from. In response to this thought I am suggesting an Amarr-based weapon, which can emit something that already causes disorder and panic on the battlefield: lasers.
-The Singularity- Lore: Often used in moon mining operations and salvaging/disassembles of non-operating ships, the singularity has gained its reputation for slicing through materials like knife on butter. In its machine version (its common form within corporations and their properties) the Singularity is a heavy piece of equipment hoisted on a mechanical arm, moving around to where it is designated to in a job site. On its exterior are heat-resistant materials and 6 beam dispensers circling its thick barrel, allowing for faster heat cool-down of the machine and greater efficiency through this. Inside is a complex piece of machinery that creates thermal radiation upon doing pre-fire sequence, which is aimed out with precision through radiation focusers lining the insides of the barrel. When the thermal radiation is mixed with the dispensers simultaneously feeding out their beams, the target being painted within its limited range is quickly heated up to around 5550 C (or 10000 F) and with longer usage, can easily match/surpass a sunGÇÖs surface temperature.
Weapon manufacturers wanted to weaponize the machine into a battle-changer, something that could change the flow of battle with devastating force, however all sorts of issues arrived when they approached this idea. The machine without its mechanical arm support was too heavy for normal heavy suits to equip, its energy consumption was higher than what a dropsuit could provide, thermal radiation (without control assists) could potentially blow up the machine during fire sequence, and several more. Still weapon manufacturers, after several changes to the original materials and some compromising, managed to make a weapon out of the machine that could be equipped by heavy infantry on the battlefield. Now being made up of a light-weight heat-resistant materials, addition of 2 power cell GÇÿclipsGÇÖ that can be discarded and replaced easily, and only 4 beam dispensers instead of 6, the Singularity is a weapon to be feared by vehicles, big & small, for its ability to cause instant destruction of them, wiping their shields in matters of seconds and ripping through them with the rest of the time. Although with relatively weaker beam strength than its industrial version and presenting several health hazards, the Singularity can be found common within the Eve clone soldiers of today.
Stats The weapon is similar to its lighter version, the laser rifle, however it is much stronger than it due to the 4th beam, which acts as an GÇÿenhancerGÇÖ to all the other ones (for sci-fi terms). The weapon heats up as the laser rifle does, increasing its damage as it does so however its heat build-up is fast, making prolong operation of the weapon lethal to its user in more severe terms than other weapons. I havenGÇÖt worked up the stats yet, as this is only a weapon suggestion in making, so I hope you guys can help me out there. How I envision its stats to be are the following:
- Medium/high damage (in terms of anti-armor). - High damage increase rate. - Fast heat build-up. - Slow cool-down rate. - High feedback damage. - Clip size 2 (1 consumed with each charge of the weapon), max ammo 20, or similar to a machine gun turret on a LAV clip/ammo size. - Limited range. - Reload could be 5-7 seconds or so.
The base damage should do enough damage to be noticed by an HAV (apart from line of red light toasting it), and the combination of high damage increase rate with fast heat build-up will allow the weapon (in an equal ground scenario) to stop before being able to destroy the vehicle in one charge, but still do enough damage to make a HAV panic. The cool-down will be slow enough to allow the HAV to run away if it moves fast enough, while the 2nd shot would be enough to finish the job if they couldnGÇÖt run from your range, unless they tried to push their luck and got feedback damage. The range would also put the heavy on a medium distance from a tank, allowing it to defend itself if they spot him/her. Reload (paired with fast heat build-up) also makes it horrible in a situation against infantry, only being useful in skilled hands.

Aesthetics/animations The weapon itself is a bulky weapon that is in the Amarr fashion of its other weapons. It has a smooth rectangular-like figure for its middle (where the thermal radiation is created) and has a thick barrel, like a smoother version of a Forge gun that is made up of parts of both scrambler and laser rifle.
The reload is (once the fuel cells are burned out) the fuel cells slightly ejects from their slots (still hot from usage), which causes you to bang the top of the weapon to finish the process of ejection, then you pull out 1 power cell clip at a time and insert each into their own slot.
When pressing the firing button, the weapon will do a pre-fire sequence in which the beam dispensers come alive and spin around the barrel, their automated small arms pushing them to closely to the end of the barrel without moving the small structure itself forward. Shields are automatically sheathed and expose holes meant for cooling on the sides of the barrel (similar to a modern heavy sniper today), while the barrel suddenly pushes itself forward a few inches to make a gap between it and the rest of the weapon, releasing excess radiation. The dispensers (after moving forward and creating a gap) simultaneously shoot out their beams into the close front of the weapon and the laser following afterwards is enlarged by the radiation. The result is a powerful ray that forces the mechanical arms (holding the dispensers) away from it, but they hold their position the best they can. When you stop shooting the weapon it instantly turns into its compact form, if you overheat the weapon it gets jammed in its stressed state, with the gap releasing a burning excess of radiation that damages you. It slowly turns back to normal afterwards.
Why add this?
1) It is a heavy weapon that shoots a laser? Powerful and not to be used excessively nor lightly, the Singularity could prove to be a fun weapon for heavies to play with. It causes a butt-load of damage but its other traits are not enough to spoil the fun of others in one blow. ItGÇÖs a weapon that can be used tactically, due to its limited ammo, so it doesnGÇÖt push away the idea of teamwork, especially against a vehicle.
2) Amarr weapon Amarr doesnGÇÖt have many racial weapons, so I think they deserve to get a weapon to add to their collection. It doesnGÇÖt go against their technology in laser-based weapons (as far as IGÇÖm concerned) so it would fit right in with their lore.
3) Another AA weapon With the ruckus vehicles can make on the battlefield this weapon is another one they could add to their list of fears of encountering on the battlefield. The weapon could be a game changer for those matches where vehicles dominate the map, not allowing for the rest of the infantry to push through. I think it would be fair in those cases.
Any thoughts? - -V

Hmm,
you can build up a image of the weapon by seeing this (which I kindly found while surfing the web). It gives out a sort of Amarr fashion, and is almost exactly what the weapon would look like (except for what would be the barrel, you can see my description of it above) in my depiction of it.

@Doctor Day Thanks for the correction. The lore was just an attempt to integrate the weapon with the rest of the Eve universe, so pardon the mistakes.

Well I admit I didn't read the whole thing. But I got the gist of what you were describing. I really love it and would thoroughly enjoy this being a weapon.
Though i do have my own slight modification. You described the weapon as an offshoot/weaponized version of mining/salvage. I would imaging laser drilling even with super high powered machinery would take a long time. So I suggest this (my own interpretation of what a weaponized mining laser would be like):
Every weapon in this game that shoots something has ammunition. I think an interesting weapon would be something that doesn't have traditional ammo limits. So how a bout a big laser as described that draws power only from the suit and does not need traditional power cells. That said fitting requirements would be MASSIVE. And instead of having high rapid damage the laser has very high maximum range, low damage but can keep the damage going for a long time. There would still be heat build up and a high cooldown time. It would be a long term reliable damage dealing weapon used to harass vehicles and finish off fleeing ones. And the "ammo" would be something akin to the how the Cloak module works. When not using it recharges when, it is being used it depletes when it is out you have to wait to a certain point to recharge.
I dunno if that would really be cool or not, but I think it would give the weapon a unique feel and play style.
I still really like your idea though.
admitting you are being illogical doesn't validate your point. It shows you know you are being dumb and keep talking

I still really like your idea though. @Contaminator Aquarius- Thanks for the feedback! I had a similar idea back when I was thinking about the weapon and how it should work, but I felt as if it wouldn't work well. The weapon (like most, if not all, other Amarr weapons) is a precision weapon, and I figured it would have to be able to bring a hard hit in order to compete with other weapons in the heavy category. Because of this I substituted range and heat build up for medium/large base damage and a high damage increase rate. Also note that the weapon was made for Anti-Armor purposes, so it needs to be able to compete at that scale but without ruthlessly slaughtering infantry. However I can see the depiction of your idea.
The weapon could act as (like you suggested) a long range, continuous rate of low damage beam (a heavy laser sniper). It could offer a different play-style for heavies, instead of being at close range ripping apart dropsuits they can be at more farther ranges (but not as far as snipers), directing a laser on a tank, ripping through its hull. Perhaps this could be its standard version, and mine could be an assault/breach variant of some sort.

Yea I was just throwing ideas out there.
I think the pseudo capacitor i was thinking of would help keep it from being an infantry slayer. At least not any more than a forge gun can be at range.
Unfortunately the idea of a laser massacring armor will never be. Most likely the weapon will have an 120-80 (shield-armor) damage profile. Though buttertizing some armor is all I dream of... like back in the day when laser rifles could slaughter LAVs
