Here is my idea for the pilot suit.
Bonus toward fitting cost for pilot based equipment per level. Bonus toward race based equipment efficacy per level. Minimal low or high slots, most likely used for PG or CPU modules. 2 equipment slots at basic and 4 at prototype.
Pilot based equipment will include drones, remote drone control, advanced targeting and warning systems, and vehicle cloak(maybe). Very little that directly helps the vehicle in a straight up mudslinging match against another vehicle but adds tremendously to its overall utility. |

Pilot suit's only function should be to let you across a particular vehicle, like STD for DS and HAV, ADV for role DS like ADS and PRO for role HAV like enforcers and marauders.
Otherwise it's an SP sink for bonus stats. Better than you literally can't use a tank without the suit than that you can't use it effectively without millions more invested into suit mods. It'd make vehicles even less accessible than before.
MLT pilot suit would also be necessary under this schematic.

The purpose of the pilot suit is to fly the MCC and/or the RDV. There is no other purpose.

They'll just give passive bonuses to different vehicle stats. Like speed, base shield/armor bonuses and modual efficacy, resistances, turret damage, etc etc. Also, keep in mind that vehicle stats might be nerfed like the equipment was with the Logi update of 1.8.
My ideas (all level 5)
Role: +15% vehicle agility
Cal: +10-15% base shield and extender hp; increased missile damage/range/ammo/reload/ or something Am: same as above but armor; increased laser turret something or other Gal: +10-15% armor repair modual efficacy; blaster bonus Min: +10-15% base speed and propulsion mod efficacy; auto cannon/howitzer bonus

I was inspired by current trends in modern day pilot helmets that are able to project a display allowing the user to visualize and acquire targets adjacent to their jet. It followed that opening new utility would give a strategic advantage to the pilot suit without necessarily adjusting vehicle performance itself. I used this as the core philosophy.
The puzzle I gave for myself was to imagine a pilot suit that while vulnerable outside of the vehicle would give the user an advantage, but not the type of advantage that it is required to use a prototype pilot and vehicle combination to counter such as weapon or shield efficacy.
Other conditions included: Provide an advantage to using a prototype pilot suit over the standard variety. (risk versus reward) Open up new and interesting gameplay that can be expanded upon in the future. |
