Is there a rule on how many uplinks we can have at once? I keep putting them down and they disappearing before anyone can respond to them. |

Read the info on the equipment, it says how many you can have deployed of that type. For the lower tier ones it's 1.

As mentioned above, the description will tell you how many can be deployed at a time. Generally it will be one for standard/militia, two for advanced/proto.
One pro tip. The deployed uplinks limitation applies to each model of the uplink individually. So while you can only have one militia uplink active at a time, you can also have a standard uplink active at the same time.
If you're keen, get the drop uplink deployment skill up to level 4 and you can have three different advanced uplinks available (the R-9, the N-11 Flux, and the P-13 Quantum). Set up a versions of your uplink dropsuit for each and swap between them as you die, and you can have up to 6 uplinks deployed at any one time. You should easily be able to rake in over 500WP a match that way (sometimes alot more if you're the only one carrying uplinks) and you can change the course of a battle.

While its great that you CAN drop that many uplinks, I find that needing to drop more than 3 is honestly just being greedy and unnecessary. You will never be the only one to bring uplinks (unless you're in the twilight zone). I find 3 to be plenty to rake in enough wps and be able to keep track of them so I know when they go out and need to be replaced. Also, lag, I hate it, don't help it along.
Lastly, read John's guide. Seriously. Read it.

That may be related to one of the many environmental glitches. While it's way way better than it used to be, there are still places where some flaw in the enviroment makes a spot "unstable" in some way and the uplink cant deploy so it 'pops'. Used to happen all the time on the pipes in line harvest, for example, less often now it seems to me.

Don't get me wrong part of my problem was I was putting down to many. BUT!!! If I put down 4 at lest one should stay up. Right? Also I was also doing this with just one uplink and was having the same problem. |

Except in Skirmush. You might want to drop 6 at different objectives.
Because, that's why.

I agree with everything posted above, I would only ask if you watched it as it was deployed and popped? Sometimes when I'm sniping, I will watch people place uplinks and spend time shooting it behind them.
So I was wondering if it popped with in a second of being placed. That is a good way to tell if it's environmental bugs. Also when you threw it, did it land on the ground or "fall" through it. |

I'll have between 4 and 7 uplinks active at any one time in larger skirmish maps, and am quite often the only person dropping uplinks. And yes, I am in the twilight zone (Oceanic).
Duplicating uplink placement is not necessarily a good tactic, but providing other options when the main areas have already been covered or placing two uplinks in key locations to allow for a greater number of spawns is an excellent way to support your team in reducing the size of the battelspace, providing rally points, and to rake in WP for orbitals.
So yes. Uplink spam is bad, but smart use of uplinks is good. Regardless of the numbers.

I'm all for smart uplink placing. I play at high times so its quite often that many a players at my times are running uplinks. I have had a few days with insomnia where I went to other servers and was definitely the only one running them. I simply meant don't be that guy who puts their uplinks right next to others or spam 6 of them at our default spawn point
