Well, in his defense, I also shoot at tanks when someone is putting REs on them. I like to think it distracts the driver or covers the sound of the RE, but I don't know for sure.

It doesn't.
I hear that equipment sound every time.
the only thing that shooting the tank does, is let him know where you are.

The funny thing is, you clowns are CLUELESS! I have gotten 100's of kill assists with an AR against a tank. When a friendly tank rolls in and opens fire, empty your clip into the red. If its milita, shoot the fuel cell. If your on the winning side, 75wp.

yeah but people have been shooting at me without any AV support or anyone else supporting them for that matter. And I'll be at full or near full health.

There are reasons for EVERYTHING! Believe that. I often distract tanks so scouts can do their delivery,tanks can sneak in. More then once I have jumped in front of a tank to die (swap fits). Normally I just suicide though.
The other day a FULL squad planned an attack against me. It was so fking well planned. Three snipers poped me one after the other and then the forger finished me off. I was so impressed. Lost a gastun forge but they deserved it.
So what might seem to be a stupid noob, might actually be a well planned attack.

Letting him know you are there is the point. As for hiding the sound maybe not, but a quite a few tankers I have encountered do seem to focus on me if I shoot or even just pop out of cover for few secs; and not the blueberry I see trying to sneak up with remote explosives or av weapons. Maybe they are just bad though, or new to commanding tanks. I don't necessarily successfully help him in getting the tank, but it doesn't see to be any worse a risk for me than hiding when I get caught out in the open by a tank with only a bit of cover nearby. Plus the av might drive the tank off.
That said it's not something you should casually try and most blueberries who do aren't doing anything so sophisticated. Most insist on being idiots and trying to kill the tank using small arms. I am not sure why, maybe they think that because you can sometimes kill a lav driver or scratch up his lav a bit if he has already been hit by av weapons. Thanks for the PSA, unfortunately the only ones who will see are those who already know not to do this. |
