I have scan precision at lv3 on my scout suit,
I was wondering if its worth it to go to level 5. Judging by protofits and the google scout dampening/scanning table that I have (most probably do too). It doesn't seem to matter unless I am a Cal Scout (which I am not) or plan on using complex precision enhancers (which I am not).
Protofits says level 5 will get me to 36 precision, which can't pick up scouts but can pick everyone else up. Level 3 doesn't make much of a difference... Am i wrong? I rather save the 600k SP for other things, but i wanted to ask first.

Going to level 5 will give you another 4% and will also allow you to equip complex precision enhancers (+20%) .

I had the same question with my Min Scout. I was using an advanced enhancer and was wondering how much of a difference the extra bump would make. I bit the bullet and went for Lvl 5 yesterday since we have some event SP coming soonish. First match I played I was seeing cloaked scouts with a complex enhancer. Totally worth it for me. |

How is that possible?
The math doesn't suggest you can do it
Cloaking = 25% reduction in profile
Assuming a scout has no additional profile dampening, that means while cloaked they are at 28 (35 /1.25)
Level 5 proficiency = 40 /1.02^5 = 36
36/1.2 (for the Complex enhancer) = 30.19~ (no idea if they round)
adding a 2nd complex enhancer = 25.159 ish (without taking into account the stacking penalty, which means this is likely at 26 ish)
Most scouts pre 1.8 already had dampening.
Level 3 dampening on a scout = 32.98 (35 /1.02^3)
Adding a cloak 32.98/1.25 = 26~
Ok....after doing the above math you *might* be able to pull this off after all, but only vs scouts that have dampening at level 3 or less. Also a big IF, is if the scouts at level 3 also have a dampener on , in which case that changes it even further
Level 3 dampening on a scout = 32.98 (35 /1.02^3)
1 Advance Dampener = 32.98/1.15 = 28.67
28.67 + cloak dampening = 22.94~
In other words - your not likely going to catch all of them. You will catch the new scouts until they get their proficiency up , at which point you will be blind again.
*note - my math may be completely wrong, and if anyone else has the correct values with proof, I'd like to hear it * |
