EVE is totally dope, but I've only been updating my toons' skill queues. Dust has me by the bwawls! No matter what anyone says re: Dust sucking, being incomplete, yada, yada, yada, I think it's a fun, engaging game that has more good things going for it than bad things slowing it down.
With Valkyrie in the mix, I have daydreams of all the potentially ridiculously cool places the New Eden IP could go. Imagine: mercs have new contracts, say "Siege Contracts"; they choose this option. An EVE capsuleer in a new sort of ship flies up to an enemy POS, right-clicks it, and chooses the "Bridge to POS" option, whilst his fleetmates take out turrets and other POS-related structures. After "bridging" to the POS, our capsuleer remains put, a sort of sitting duck with logistics/warfare link potential. At this point, our mercs find themselves spawning in a room in the capsuleer's ship, connected to the POS. They start storming the POS, hacking certain points along the way and shooting NPCs in their faces. dropping uplinks, etc., so teammates don't have to respawn at the beginning. While this is happening, Valkyrie pilots are sent out from the POS to engage enemy drones/frigates (or whatever like-sized craft makes sense). Should the mercs hack all of their objectives in time/before getting cloned, the POS belongs to whatever corp issued the contract, everyone gets paid, the EVE fleet continues whatever it was doing, Dust mercs biomass back to their cabins, Valkyrie pilots land. Should the siege fail, the support fleet and Valkyrie crafts are likely mostly or entirely lost, the merc team has been cloned, the issuing corp has lost considerable ISK and time. Siege costs would cover merc clones, Valkyrie ships, payouts, etc., and would be less than the cost of setting up a POS, to incentivize people to lay siege vs. setup a new POS.
This would hecka much bridge all the games, and provide PVE for Dust/Valkyrie players!
A boy can dream...
