No, we're on the tranquility server. EVE players in China have their own called serenity and consoles, until very recently, were banned in China for moral reasons(?) and Dust is still not played there.
Finally the full set of racially aligned suits;
but still not one with a tie

Because china. If you're aware of their history with the internet, computer software, 'trademarks', 'copyrights' or MMO's.... well, it answers itself. |

I assume it was because of the Chinese Government but I'm not sure what the official reason was anyways.

I hear that EVE was, at first, also very popular among the Chinese and western players may have found themselves outnumbered.

Gaming consoles are banned in china by the goverment. The only exception is Hong Kong.

Well, there's the whole, the Communist state of mainland China is still ham-fisted about preventing the spread of communication with the outside world so they can maintain less competition with their own propaganda/fear the incite of a popular revolt after the people hear stories about hamburgers and freedome, or, something. I mean, it's just an impediment to help keep the masses a little more ignorant if you will, though places like Hong Kong/Shanghai are savvy enough to already have a feel for the gist of things.
Also having the capacity to decide on a whim/bribe which IT/internet services can and cannot access the Chinese digital economy and which one's can't is useful for things like clones and intellectual property infringement.
China has this big neo-mercantile, 'why let foreigners make money when we can copy what they're doing and make the money ourselves', kind of thing going on. Though I make it out to sound kind of bad, it's not always that bad, it just delves into that territory from time to time; overall things seem to be looking up and at this point it's more maintenance of standing policy. In a few years who knows, maybe I'll be playing some DOTA with my good friends in Fujian Province.
Another fun fact, Chinese prisons have been known to use inmates to farm in game currencies for, actual currencies which is kind of interesting; the whole dynamics of virtual to real currency exchanges and how it's actually a profitable passtime in some places, not the forced labor part, that's pretty straightforward. |
