As a Rail Tanker I've had my fair share of destroying enemy tanks and myself killed by many things. But I have a serious question.
How does a Proto Railgun deal over 19,000 points of damage in 2 shots? Damage mod stacking doesn't even come close. I've never experienced such a thing. If anybody can explain this, please do. lol

Where did you see that the Proto Rail could do 9500 damage per shot? |

A Proto Railgun does 1885 damage. Add three Damage Mods (total 90% boost to 3582 per shot) and fire two shots to a tank's weak point (based on the Forge Gun vs HAV rear, the first is 168% damage vs shields and the second is 202% vs armour) at the rear and you should deal about 13K in damage. The first shot alone is a little over 6K, 6017 to be exact, which should 1shot any tank that's not running Hardeners. The second shot is 7236. Total is 13253.
Even if someone still had a Kubera Black Ops Tank, since that had 4 high slots, the damage is less than 16K. 4 Damage mods (120%) pumps it to 4147 per shot, base damage. Two rear shots works out at 6967 for the first and 8377 for the second. Total damage 15344.
Dealing over 19K in damage should be impossible in 2 shots.
DISCLAIMER: I'm not a Tanker, I'm a Heavy, so my maths may be (and most likely is) off somewhere.

Yes, and no. To manage to sneak up on a tank, to get that "up the kilt" shot takes a degree of player skill and luck, not entirely unlike head shots, which also does an insane of damage. |

I've already counted that bonus damage into my earlier calculations. Max damage with 3 Damage mods and firing "up the kilt" only deals 13K

I was under the impression you cannot stack damage mods. If I remember correctly he had 3k shields and 2k or something armor. So those mods are out of the question.
I took this guy head on in a match the other night after I had already killed several of his tanks. I have a Gunnlogi with 5300 Shield and a Complex hardener and 3 Damage mod shots will bust my shield before my armour is exposed. But the damage he delt to me was stated at 19,342 points.
While I accept any loss against an opposing tanker, the damage in the window was absurd with a 2 shot death with hardeners activated. I didn't get a chance to see who it was other than his corp. I will also acknowledge if it was just a glitch with the damage counter but he was part of THE RIDERS.

Nevermind, I just figured the stacking damage mod thing. Which is weird given the fact it doesn't work like that in EVE.
