From suits to weapons, a merc had a number of extremely effective things to choose among. The net effect was exciting combat on a diverse battlefield.
Uprising has had its ups and downs, but for the better part of the past of a year it has not been diverse. For months on end, 9/10 mercs in any battle ran Rifles. And until just recently, 9/10 mercs in any battle ran Med Frames.
To those "Drama Llamas" so overcome with grief, look at the battlefield around you. There are Heavies, Scouts, Tanks, Dropships, Logis, Assaults ... even Commandos! Look at the Killfeed. It no longer reads Duvolle, Gek, Duvolle, Exile, Core Locus. Each and every match you play features a diverse landscape that we wouldn't have thought possible six months ago. What we're observing today is clear indication that we are moving in the right direction.
Of course things need polish here and there, but can we not give CCP credit where it is due?
Kudos CCP for reshaping the battlefield. Exmaple would be proud.
Cloaking to attack invisibly, mil tanks being just as good as sp invested tanks and increased dancing, jumping and ballet maneuvering is NOT moving in the right direction. You are pointing out diversity of items but at what cost to see those get used?
Things are getting sillier. This is not the same kind of diversity as before. This is diversity at the expense of neutering something else and simplifying the equation rather than developing it. CCP Have had to simplifiy things as a quick fix because they can't keep up with good development esp when they have other basic problems that are raking priority.
Sure it all looks cool if you are just a console kiddie not looking beyond the in game specticle. Don't let mere killfeed data trick you as to what is really going on. Look at the game from a company point of view as a product that needs to succeed by standing out rather than blending in. In this regard it is failing.
Brick tanking a scout suit since April 2013!
