I've been playing dust since closed beta was in the PlayStation home. I've got to say this game has come a long way. People complian about this new patch like they did everyother one. But what i think some people dont realize is that this is probably the best update u guys have done and the hot fixes happened very fast unlike past updates. Thank you CCP for your professionalism diligence. Keep up the good work.

Actually, a lot of people recognize that 1.8 has taken the game a long way. It definitely feels like forward progress. Although there are the occasional posts about buff/nerfing, there's been plenty of people posting to say "well done." I, for one, am extremely excited to see what plans CCP has in store for Dust at Fanfest.
I think what the game really needs now is a marketing push to get awareness back up on Dust. There needs to be some updates to NPE for sure, and some things like militia gear and starter fits need updating, but overall Dust is as great as its ever been.

I think it would be wise to wait with a costly advertising push until PvE is established, so that the potential new players dont run scared once they get thrown into the boiling water that is the NPE. But with a softer entrance (the PvP should remain hardcore), they would have much more "sticking" potential instead of "bouncing". Why was WoW so attractive? Soft cooperative entry, hard competetive end. Easy as that.
Would be great if they could finally surpass the 8000 online players (which they never did before). http://eve-offline.net/?server=dust
The answer to your complaint is PvE. Always.

I'm impressed at CCP's ability to keep messing around with vehicles and never getting them right.

I would actually wait until PvE is introduced and the NPE and/or Academy is overhauled before CCP goes back to the old market push routine. Dust University (a player-run academy) has helped with a lot of the player retention for the game in general but we can only do so much. A revamped NPE with a built-in academy that actually feels like an academy along with PvE can help greatly the rest of the way.

With full racial parity finally represented, and each race having its nuances to shield/armor/repair/speed/equipment, Dust, for the first time, feels diverse. It'll be awesome to have racial vehicles, maps and RDVs to be sure, but at least we can represent our play styles through our drop suit choices now.
