M.A.G. was launched in 2010 and it was better than this crap we play in 2014. The real problem was the bad developers that ruined the game and Rudy with his "brilliant" random bullet dispersion.

I miss calling in airstrikes and UAVS and the gamemode aquisition. I loved domination for sabatoging points and jumping out of an airplane as a spawnpoint.

I want my MAG suits... BTW. I forget what happened but I tired to buy the Valor Raven and SVER suits here and could only get the Raven. |

+1 for the disgusting, but accurate, analogy Moejoe.

That game was like crack I could NOT stop playing it.
I didn't have 5000 hours like some people, probably 1500 but still, it was literally the only game I played for almost three years. I didn't play it consistently and when it died I hadn't played it for about a year.
All we need is a MAG2 on PS4 with better clan support, better hit detection, no hard freezes, better servers, more maps and more overall stability in domination and we would have the best FPS on the market.
No FPS has quite done large-scale battles like it, it's bringing back great memories just thinking of the game. The way the battles developed was unique too. Everyone remembers attacking the non-bridge map of aralkum mechanical, it was awesome once you broke through that bunker line and all fought over that one depot.
Comms was awesome too, listening to people ***** and moan was great,
My only regret was not having a job to be able to buy a good capture device and film more than I did. The movement in that game was also spot on. Triangle needs to be nerfed if it has a sequel though, and maybe they should finally un-nerf X!
I've never had more in a game and with a community, the forum posts were actually times in my life that I consider memorable, even if they didn't happen in real life. I've been more entertained on those forums than from any movie. I had I think 4,500 posts by the end of it!
[moved to locker room]
So what do I think of DUST? Well it's slower than MAG, I keep trying to move like it's MAG but the movement just isn't up to scratch, nor is the clunkiness of jumping (or not jumping) over things. The sound effects and music are better, maybe they're just different but DUST gets a thumbs-up in the sound department from me.
The maps should be smaller and the battles more condensed. MAG had no matchmaking but everyone had the same amount of health. Lag was the main problem with MAG. In DUST bad players can group up, spam proto and tanks and snipers and take you down. In MAG a scrub corp was a scrub corp, no matter if they all had LMGs and 12c armour they would get redlined if they lacked gungame. In DUST the numbers hold your hand and make you superman VS starter fits and new players.
DUST is fun but it's no MAG. It's better than CoD by far and for me, more enjoyable than any Battlefield game. I'm interested in planetside 2 on PS4 though. I'll wait for reviews, that will decide if I buy a PS4 or not.

ahhh the memories of running ambush as valor. Using valors silenced SMG with full stealth, minus the radar jam which gave position more than anything, was glorious. People would go down in seconds and no one would know the better. Or if your attacking SVER in ambush and your using valors shotgun with stealth. you could probably hack those objectives single handly if you have the shotty |

shadow drake35 wrote:im personally like it a little better than MAG, but i do miss MAG massive battles and all the different looks in to maps and size. I will stay with dust but when planetside 2 comes i might play it more if i like it better, still MAG was the best game ever.(i will star using , . ? ! for all the people who kept telling me to)
dust is nowhere near the epicness of MAG. only one thing is better in dust and that's the lag I get. it's not perfect but compared to the lag I got in mag it's still ok (in its last month's mag was unplayable for me thanks to the horrible lag). but some dust matches have some serious framerate drops and teleporting issues which hopefully will be fixed in the future..

The maps in MAG were nice, no mysteriously sticky spots. Comms channels, proxy chat, team deploy, all awesome stuff.

JL3Eleven wrote:Please don't kid yourselves MAG was 10x better and a reason this game still has players. This game would be AAA quality if they took more ideas from MAG tbh. Hell most of the corps now came from MAG.
Dust still needs to copy: 32 v 32 proximity chat corp battles team deploy leadership roles in battle more fluid movement while playing ambush smoke grenades the sense of intensity while playing
Just to name a few.
we used to have corp battles where you would wager a pot and fight for it. then we got PC. personally, i think ccp should bring back corp battles. having both PC and CB would spice things up a bit. corps too broke for PC could still enjoy CB.
i do miss proxy chat and team deploy. we NEED TEAM DEPLOY!! 32 vs 32 would be welcome too.
something that wasn't mentioned for dust > mag...
the "black market" everyone wanted due to sver's OP weapons is here.... anything available can be used by any player. no restrictions. that in and of itself is a major plus for dust. there might be OP items, but anyone can get them if they want (then they get nerfed... lol).
still, dust, unlike mag, is not finished yet. there WILL be more game modes, more weapons, more maps, more EVE interaction (which will change things dramatically), more of everything. whether its on the PS3 or PS4, dust still has lots of room to grow. just wait until the player market comes.
both games have/had their issues, but mag was a "finished" product. the devs gave up on mag. then zipper got shut down. ccp is more responsive, updates are more common, and will continue to be so.

in the later days of MAG i loved getting into acquisition maps attacking the SVER map with a crappy team, they'd never be able to get anything done so i would just sneak into the back lines of the map and blow up assets back there and get an absurd amount of points, just blowing stuff up, hiding waiting till the enemy repaired the stuff, blow it all up again, i could stay back there the whole match, closest thing to playing metal gear solid but actually fun

I miss MAG. Alot.
MAG had alot of things that I miss in Dust/other FPS', but it was not perfect, but it had a community and players that were/is simply great, and that made the game really special. And it had a feeling I've not come across in any other fps game, to keep on playing, the hours I spent is almost ridiculous, it didn't matter what other games I got I always turned on MAG and got stuck, it was actually close to addictive for me. And the" team playing" in MAG is something I miss in Dust, proxy chat, hearing enemies and allies call out people or just simply rage. Following Platoon/OIC leaders orders in Domination with and against well organised squads were epic, even the simplest Sabotage against well coordinated squads could be really intense.
And the graphics, character and maps design, were enough for the level of fun it offered, if I could get it back today, I would still be playing it.... |
