Think it's pretty stupid with female suits and armor in general honestly.
For one, pretty much every design of armor (fantasy or sci-fi) with feminine aesthetics I've seen look obviously less durable and protective than their male counterparts. Sure that "tactically" exposed cleavage might please a bunch of horny teenage boys, but from a tactical standpoint, leaving a huge part of the chest exposed is like begging to get shot or stuck in that exposed part.
Second: real world body armor doesen't have moulded boobs and a a slim waist to accenuate feminine attributes.
Third: this is dust 514, where we play as genetically and surgically improved clone bodies, that we transmit our conciousness into and out of at a whim. So then why the hell would anyone choose to fight in a more fragile, female body when you could have a muscleboosted 'roid monster that can punch through brick walls and march for days on end?
It really makes no kind of logical sense with female armour or bodies for that matter (or at the very least: the female clones would be just as hopped up on steroids and muscle grafts that they would be hard to distinguish from the male ones)
Clones grown purposefully for battle should be genderless. |

Many Dust trailers have indicated that we are in fact custom designed clones/based off our original DNA. Clone Reanimation Units and the like would then simply take all the atoms an very quickly build the entire human clone on the spot as we spawn in based on each person's personalized DNA.

And I applaud ccp for doing so but the same should apply for all the dropsuits and not just heavies, since they're all designed to protect the wearer from harm to a certain degree. |

It's a game. Females play this game. For ages games have always had a male hero leaving the female role empty with few games (Tomb Raider, ONI, etc) being exceptions. Games now give options for players to choose their gender so females can play as females and not roid raging males (think Halo and GoW).
Personally I tend to pick female characters because as stated above, they don't look like roid raging males bulked up for video game glory. Plus why would I stare at a virtual dude when I play when I can stare at a virtual chick?

But heavy frames are all much, much bigger than an actual human body frame.

I bet it was the trailer with the female merc. She's sen in her MQ before deploying, without helmet. They are definitely not stock clones in that trailer.

Three words: suspension of disbelief
In order for a fictional setting to become more easy to accept for the viewier (be it a book, movie pr videogame) the creator should go to great lengths to insure that the setting makes sense.
Going your route breaks the fourth wall since it's obviously a hint to suck up to the viewer (fan service if you will), it spoils immersion.
A well designed fictional setting that makes sense doesen't need to engage in fan service. It stands on it's own merit and will fascinate an audience regardless of gender, age or social class. |
