Now I know what you're thinking "Cloaking is OP it's impossible to fix without touching!!" But.... Has anybody ever thought of..... Thermal imagining equipment?...
This would be a great battlefield tool to help expose cloaking scouts! Now before some noobs say "This would be OP!!" I have some balanced suggestions...
- Limited range - Profile Dampners slightly makes you undetected (Unless cloaked)

WE already had a ''F*ck scouts'' equipment in the past: it was called A.Scanners pre 1.8.

Get your game up people. SRSLY.... Having to Perfectly SEE a 300HP player in order to have a chance is sad. ITs not like we are 100% invisible you know....

WELL depends on the type of scout. an E-war scout like mine has 312 EHP at proto level >..> . Tanked scouts are just an Assault with a dampener and an extra equip-slot in exchange for EHP... >.>

I was hacking a turret and all of a sudden I hear footsteps, but saw nobody. Then I saw a nlue phantom trying to sneak up on me. First time I killed a shotgun phantom... Yeah i agree they have that, but also a cloak. I think this is causing most of the complaints. |

Well, if there is something there will always be, are complaints. This doesnt mean there should be change every time somebody whines because of something. Truly, if it wasnt because i can cloak and hide behind stuff, i would have to go back to Scout TANKING and/or using profile dampened Assaults (like my Amarr one) because E-war is no good if they see you coming....
Sure there are TANKED scouts, but they are sacrificing SO, SO much in order to have close to Med frame EHP they dont even know it....(Specially if you are going to use a cloak! Cloak = Avoid being seen if possible,WHy in gods name do you need more than 400HP then? some people... XD)

I went back into my Cal assault, like i have always run, thinking something this bad has to get a buff eventually (haha). I usually dampen it, but now i'm stacking plates to try and get some sort of reaction time to a cloaked shotty in the back.
The main problem i am having is the reaction time to cloaked shotguns, there is none really. |

A brick tanked scout is very easy to passive scan by a cal scout, or any scout with precision enhancers or a proto scanner. They are also easy to kill just like most cloaked scouts are easy to kill.

I never thought that and I dont know why you think it.
Until someone goes 40-0 with a cloak and every weapon available then the cloak isnt OP.
Its not the cloak, its whats used with the cloak.

I agree sort of. The ability to fire 2 shots with the shotgun before becoming visible needs to be fixed, that is directly cloak related.

Nor there is to a well placed R/E. Nor there is to a Heavy With Six Kin Burst HMG at close range (at least in my scout suit) Nor there is to an LAV just speeding through the battlefield. Nor there is to a Rail Tank sniping you. Nor there is to a team of 3+ enemies all using Mass Drivers.
Still,doesnt mean it needs a nerf.
Im sure that after a while, when people Realize that cloak does not MEAN invisibility and that is ACTUALLY quite easy to pick a cloaked foe,even while he is standing still..... unless his profile dampening is too high....like mine... ;)

The main problem i am having is the reaction time to cloaked shotguns, there is none really. If a cloaked Shotgunner is getting you IN THE BACK, then it doesn't matter whether they were cloaked or not, you were dead because THEY GOT BEHIND YOU.
The reaction time you have is all the time it takes for them to get in close. CHECK BEHIND YOU. Assume there is ALWAYS an enemy coming for you.
DON'T STOP WATCHING YOUR BACK. If you see your crosshairs light up red, or if you see a blue glowing thing moving around, open fire. If you're not running a Shotgun yourself, you have the range advantage by a HUGE margin. If you are, YOU SHOULD ALREADY KNOW TO BE CHECKING YOUR BACK. So check your back and look out for cloakers.
Congratulations, cloaks are no longer OP against you.
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Best way to fix cloaks without touching them would be to have a tooltip that shows up when you start the game, showing "this is a cloaked Scout standing still" and "this is a cloaked Scout while running" and "this is what it looks like when you're aiming at a cloaked Scout" so people can see how easily the "invisibility" can be countered by simply realising THEY AREN'T INVISIBLE. |
