I Finally get why it has been Utterly terrible and inconsistent since Uprising launch.
Crosshair's "Red'ing".
When my Crosshairs Turn red.... That is the only time CCP's Servers and my Playstation thinks that bullets will register.
There is no dynamic Hit detection with almost every gun in DUST 514.
In any FPS out there... you learn how your bullets travel and spray by testing on walls... In DUST? it doesn't matter, Unless your crosshairs are red no bullets will register... Which is backwards from ANY FPS game I have played in 15 years...
This gets worse when you stack how Hit Detection works in DUST 514 and how Aim assist works. When you "Red" your crosshairs.... You essentially "Lock" on your target where you have near perfect bullet accuracy.. Where recoil, movement and terrain don't matter because the crosshairs are red.
Worse still is the "red" Crosshairs are victim to game performance dips. Leaving Targets with 5% health or less... To sustain 3 people shooting over 200 bullets at them and surviving through it.. Because no ones crosshairs turned "red" because the game was under load...
This entire hit detection system Boggles the mind.. And explains why DUST 514 players have endured one of the worst hit detection systems, And are vocal about it every patch...
Please CCP Dynamic Hit detection... Or just give us an EVE like "Lock" on feature already... Making a Video montage of the Gimmick hit detection and how Aim assist works with it... And I HAAATE editing.. Sadly it doesn't show DUST in a great light with how obvious and pathetic hit detection is, going from frame for frame.
Very annoyed tried to keep it civil. |

Very annoyed tried to keep it civil. I guess this is part of the reason that those with the lowest latency get f^cked by those with high latency

Make sure to include a scout running straight at you through your hail of bullets taking zero damage. Oh my barely contained (and recently not so contained) rage.

Aim assist is honestly what separates M/KB vs DS3. The horrible hit detection was magically fixed for me when I started using an EagleEye and using Mouse with Aim Assist.
It's pathetic, I know, but CQC is an absolute nightmare in this game with the input and framerate lag. It still feels super weird with the EagleEye compared to playing a PC game (it emulates a DS3 so there's a turn-speed cap which makes it awkward as hell sometimes), but it seems like the aim assist keeps up with my reflexes by correcting that quarter to half-second lag that you usually get with the mouse in this game.
I'd hate to say it, but if they can't fix mouse by allowing raw input then they should give maybe a milder form of aim assist to the mouse. Right now anyone who uses a mouse would agree that it's really hard to compete in CQC because of how bad the delay gets. It just feels like the game is a few tenths of a second behind you which makes all the difference when you're target tracking scouts and such.
Let me play you the song of my people!

Very annoyed tried to keep it civil. Well put, thank you.
This makes me sad: no amount of raw KBM input will ever balance the ds3 AA's ability to lock-on during lag and low framerate conditions.
Today is the sort of day where the sun only comes up to humiliate you.
