I finally saw some trailers for EVE:Valkyrie. (Coming to an Occulus Rift and/or PS4 near you this year, allegedly!)
So, lets run this down. CCP has gone from a mostly strategic battlefield... to a real time MMO ground based battlefield (with minor spaceship type integration)... to an in-space battlefield.
Not much integration there. But CCP keeps CLAIMING, that they want more EVE/DUST integration.
So I'm looking forward to the future.. and imagining a time where the "MCCs".. are player piloted. Where the number of clones in a battle, is not dependant on some arbitrary number.. but the amount of bio-resources actually flown into an area by EVE pilots. Where battles last not for some arbitrary fixed time limit... but.. EVE style... for as long as corporations can afford to continue throwing resources and players at the conflict.
DUST, as it is, is... kinda fun...but a bit too detached.
True universe integration, like THAT, however... really gets me fired up!

I hope CCP eventually achieves true integration between the three.
Dust players could handle the small scale battles (a single battlefield within a district, infiltration/defense of eve ships, etc.) Valkyrie players could handle medium scale battles (large terrestrial aircraft, defending eve ships from other fighters, attacking EVE ships, etc.) as well as being responsible for terrestrial logistics for dust players. Eve players can handle the large scale battles (armada fights, planetary bombardment, etc.) as well as interplanetary logistics for valkyrie and dust players.
Think of the battles in Battlestar Galactica (2003) while also sending marines into the enemy ships.
Very, very far off if ever but it would be an amazing experience. |

It's sure to be a tough road for developers, the line of player freedom and balance is always a difficult one to draw, on account of the impossibility of drawing it straight.
