Im new. Not only to dust but to fps in general and have been having a blast but...this kind of stuff is frustrating. I have worked my way up to advanced suits and weapons at this point. Why is it that I can unload my advanced assault rifle into an orange medium suit and seemingly do NOTHING while they can then take me right out using a militia assault rifle? It was he and I on a ledge. Only ones there. So I know I wasnt getting hit by someone else. I dont get it. They melted through my sentinal armor with enhanced plates like I was wearing a light suit.(yes my armor and shield basics are at 5 so im getting the most out of my plates/shield) This happened more than once and it was particularly bad last night. Im all about drilling my ass off to get gud noob. But, it kinda seems pointless if Im going to get pwnd by freaking militia gear. Whats a brand new player going to think? I can tell you cause my kids have already done it, they will say f this s and uninstall. So please...school the noob...wtf is going on here? No QQ here.... just want to know where my skill points are lacking. I know my gun game needs work but this was...beyond my gun game.

Hey Gotmy,
What happend, happend to all other players. You died fast. Your shield/armor doesnt made enough damage...
Okay. So maybe this guy was an newcomer in Dust514 then the engine works, cause he also can kill an advanced/ Proto tier user. Maybe its your aiming skills, but i dont think so.
Meybe its the environment where you fighting in. For me, as an logi, an heavy makes me smiling, cause i ate him piece for piece. First the shields with my scrampler rifle and the armor with my smg. So he got more damage. If i met him in an close-quarter-combat, i try to hide behind boxes/walls, if i dont hide, iam dead. If i met him on the open ground and he is far away, i will stay away and try to shoot at him ore try to hide behind boxes/walls. Or i die.
Thats what i can tell you, but there are some guys, who really can help you!!! Some of them wrote this and you will definitly find an answere.

All good on the language! Thanks for the reply. I dont think its the mechanics cause I know good and well I cant take a militia weapon and cut through an advanced heavy suit head on. And thats how it happened. He came around a corner and we opened fire on each other. We were a meter apart at most and no room to strafe. Wall on one side, big ledge on the other. It was a straight on fire power race and I lost...to a militia weapon. Not saying he was wearing a militia suit however.
Like I said, I know my gun game is...well noob. But in this particular circumstance it doesnt make sense. Plus I noticed many other deaths of mine were at the hands of militia weapons. Somethings just not right and Im looking for an explanation. Im assuming its a skill point thing and I just want to know where my skill point deficit lies.
Also know it happens to everyone! Im used to getting pubstomped haha. (makes me say BAD words!) Cant play this game and not be heh. Just not used to getting pub stomped by militia gear.

You can get ARs to be pretty precise if you aim well, and he could have gotten some good head shots. |

Thats what Im wondering. All I can come up with is he had massively spec'd into AR and the militia rifle was particularly nasty in his hands.

Probably prof 3, a dmg mod and then landing some head shots on you, it's easy enough on heavies as always.

yea this can be confusing because in most games level X weapon > level Y weapon. this is not the case in dust. due to his skills level X weapon be > level Y weapon. also his armor could have been complex. he had more health than you.
even if you get the next tier suit, and he has a lower suit but better shields/armor skills making your ADV suit an empty shell if it doesn't have supporting skills. MLT suit with core skills > advance suit without core skills. remember this before skilling into proto.

As answered above: a combination of proficiency and headshots and maybe a damage mod or three. |

Headshots are the likely culprit and you are assuming it was one on one.
I run a scout and the number of times a heavy thinks they are in a one on one fight when they are not is quite common.

Likely one of the following...
1. His weapon was better at the range at which you were fighting.
2. His weapon had a better damage profile for your armor/shield ehp than yours had for his.
3. Some of his rounds could have scored headshots.
4. What suit was he wearing? He could have been brick tanked with close to 1000 ehp.
5. He was using KB/M. All other factors being equal, a good KB/M user will have better gun game than a good DS3 user (by virtue of the device). This is likely not the cause at point blank range as you described.

As everyone has mentioned there's a lot of variables in this case and everyone has crap games from time to time, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I would chalk it up to a fluke headshot.

Was the orange medium suit a Minmatar suit with orange camouflage pattern? If so that would describe the GÇ£SeverGÇ¥ Logi BPO. If it was a Logi suit, then it could have had a lot of health if stacking Shield Extenders and Armour Plates.
If it was a GÇ£SeverGÇ¥ Logi BPO it would have been a veteran player (because you canGÇÖt get them any more). So figure max skills and a good gun game. It sounds like an ISK grinding setup of a Militia weapon on a BPO suite, probably setup for high effectiveness at low cost. He probably had Proto Modules, as modules are far less expensive than suits and weapons, so they give a bigger bang for your buck.
Finally, he probably reacted more quickly than you, and went for the head shot for max damage.
There may be some other factors involved as well, such as lag, or terrain glitches.
That is the best analysis I can give you based on the information available.
Edit: It is also possible that you were hit by a Sniper in the meddle of your fire fight. It would be hard to notice when someone is right in front of you shooting you.

The things that come to my mind is that he maxed out his weapon, 5 's in all the slots make any weapon pretty good and militia gear does the same damage as standard gear, it is just harder to fit. He might have been hitting you in the head as well, and lastly it might be a shield vs. armor thing.
I am running almost purely starter fits on this alt. and find it works surprisingly well. I'm not saying I do great but comparing it to how I do in STD gear it does fine.
Because, that's why.

MLT has two drawbacks. Fitting costs and Ammo.
Having said that no skill MLT shotgun is actually more lethal in moving CQC combat then the laser pointer higher skill ones. |

Probably leveled out his core skills, making his MLT fits just a bit tougher.
