I have said it many times. The Plasma Cannon does not need a buff. It just needs to work right all the time. I am so sick of these bugs in particular:
*Misfires/Dud Rounds
Sometimes on a fresh clone the first shot will be a phantom shot and not actually fire or take any ammo even though the firing animation is shown. It can actually happen several times in a row. Very annoying and downright embarrassing...
*Reload animation issues
Not sure if this issue is from 1.8 or from the fact that I just 5'd out reload on my Plasma Cannon. But I will reload and still have an empty chamber. Additionally, the wrong number of ammo is shown quite frequently.
*Shots do not register damage sometimes
This is the biggest offender in my opinion. I simply cannot rely on my weapon to do damage 100% of the time. I've hit scouts dead on and not even registered splash damage. I've snuck up on a sniper, hit them directly with a shot, and no damage register at all. Please explain to me how a direct hit can result in absolutely no damage?
So CCP, can you please tell me how this is acceptable? The Plasma Cannon is not new or anything. How can you continue to sell Aurum versions of these weapons to people that just flat out do not work properly? Not to mention all the SPs spent on a weapon that doesn't even work right. This is ludicrous. How many new weapons will you add to this game before you fix the weapons already in it?

The main reason I won't use the Plasma Cannon is cause the projectile speed is too slow that anyone could side step it and then with that projectile speed the splash damage isn't worth it to use. If they fix one of these 2 things I might give the Plasma Cannon a second look.

That is not a bug or a problem. That is intended. Part of using the weapon effectively is knowing how to account for the speed of the projectile. I have prof. 5 and splash damage is plenty when you follow up with an Assault SMG.
What I am talking about here is the weapon actually NOT working as programmed. Not my personal opinion about ROF or anything else.

I started a new character to test this out and it still happens even with just level 1 and no reload skill.

Level 1 still grants a bonus to the charge speed, which is the issue with the phantom shots.
I've found that, at least with the Forge Gun, if I part charge a second shot and than release the trigger, it will actually fire the first shot. After about a minute, the glitch clears completely.

Thank you. I have started to use the PC as cloaked scouts don't like splash damage. I have noticed these issues. If there is a 'blip' in the match while charging i might as well kiss that round goodbye

My swarms never launched duds, did no damage or had no reloading issues which are actually the points of the OP, so it's no wonder that you would say that SL are better. Now I think of it...my PLC helped to take out more shield tankers than my swarms did...learn to use it right.

Cheers RKKR! It's OK. This is partially the issue why the Plasma Cannon never gets any love. Every time a discussion is started about it straight up being broken, people always want to use it as an excuse to complain about not being any good with it. Something not working and user lack of skill are two completely different things.
Spartykins - I'm gonna tell you what I tell everyone else when they say the Plasma Cannon sucks at AV.
You're doing it wrong.
CCP - I still have yet to hear back on this thread or my support ticket. I will be like Andy Motherfuckin' Dufrane up in here and write a letter a day until I get my library. In this case the library is a functioning Plasma Cannon.

With regards to your refund request for all purchases relating to Plasma Cannon and its variants, this is simply not something we can issue. We do see that you have posted a summary of the issues you have encountered on the forums and for that you have our thanks.
The developers do monitor these forums for issues and the information you have provided should give them an idea as to what issues with the Plasma Cannons may be present. We see that you have requested a roadmap of when such reported issues will be resolved but we are simply unaware of any such time frame.
We appreciate your frustration but at this time there is very little information we can offer. We can only suggest you monitor the forums for any patch release threads or developer blogs indicating a change with this weapon type.

So basically they have absolutely no intentions of fixing this issue anytime soon. or even soon tm.

Typical miscommunications...or non-communication between the GM and DEV teams.
GM team will always deflect the responsibility to the DEV team on these kind of matters without actually sending it to them, you have to be lucky...they see this stuff...AND act on it.
They would have read the issues of the PLC plenty of times a while ago if they actually do read the forum for issues (and other stuff in player-feedback).
Luckily they did remove some languages from support so they could give top-on communication quality . |

Just to clarify CCP the Plasma Cannon is still broken. Just checking in. I was told by GM Arcade to just not use it until it's fixed so I will check back here everyday with anticipation. Hopefully I can use my main light weapon again soon. My hands are sore from meleeing people to death constantly.
