I never played Titanfall, but I saw footage of the game, deploying NPCs along with the players. Something like this could lift the heavy burden put on newberries and give them an active role to fulfill, besides support and sniping. Though the feature would need to be very thoroughly designed to avoid erratic / unintended behaviour by players.
Feature structure:
- A certain amount (N) of NPC "regulars" is put on the battlefield on specific locations (L) in a certain rhythm (R) on either team. (amount, locations and rhythm are up for discussion. N & R Presumably limited by PS3 performance)
- The regulars then follow a semi random pattern of paths to the nearest enemy Objective (sticking together in Groups).
- Then attacking every enemy encountered at the objective or on the way there.
Possible rewards:
- 5-10 WPs for killing a regular. They are not clones, but inferior soldiers (or even drones). So the average regular should do less damage and be weaker than the weakest newberry.
Possible benefits:
- The main reason for this feature would be giving newberries and weak players something to do on the battlefield and motivate them to play at all.
- The battlefield would be more crowded and the feel of a frenetic fight would be the result.
- A new tactial dimension would be added and enrich the experience.
Possible exploits:
- My guess is that powergamers will always choose the easiest way of making profits. So top players reaping the regulars for even easier kills than newberries and quit doing anything else could pose a problem. Any suggestions for a solution?
- I am not sure about regulars being able to hack objectives. If they could, the hacking speed should be even lower than the lowest possible players hacking speed.
Expanding on the idea:
- (L) could be randomly falling drop-pods (like little CRUs), releasing a squad (or some squads) of regulars; or special uplinks set by players (giving them 10 WPs per spawned squad. Spawning 1-3 Squads at a given rhythm, all depending on equipment tier); or the currently existing spawn-points; or maybe the MCC only.
- (N) could be 3-5. The less clones the team has remaining, the bigger the NPC squads could get, somehow balancing the match.
- (R) could be 15-30 seconds. Time could decrease for the team getting stomped for the sake of balancing (see above).
I would gladly add your suggestions to the lists above. Point out problems, or post new ideas. Go hogwild.

I have played Titan Fall and I find the attrition game mode really enjoyable it would be interesting to see something similar to this implemented in eve.
Perhaps as a precursor to invading a planet we fight against a full team supported with bots with the objective being to push the other team back and weaken there manpower on the planet before we start a full out invasion. It could add some very interesting depth to the game I do feel there could be another game type or two in dust. But I would hate to see a CTF type game mode in the game. |

It makes sense. Like I've said before, were mercenaries being hired to fight. Right now, it seems like no one has a standing army, or security. Mercenaries are called in to bolster defences for a limited amount of time, not to act as a standing army. The only problem with this proposal is the hacking. They shouldn't be able to back, but they should be able to defend objectives while a player hacks. Also, what about vehicles? Can they drive them? Gun them? In my opinion, they should only be able to sit in a passenger seat, and should exit whenever you tell them too. You could replace the button to open, and close, the bay doors with an exit command.

Thank you for your feedback on the topic guys. I added your suggestions to the topic.
I wonder how this would play out, if you could fill up an partially empty squad with NPCs too. I wouldnt let the squad leader get warpoints by NPCs kill assists, or kills (should they actually make one). But it would be nice to order them around and send them to their death as a distraction, via the already established squad commands
