Being a Hardcore Elite player looking for a corp I sometimes get stuck and have to ask the difficult questions.......
Can dropship operators shoot missiles? I've sometimes been chased by dropships with no turret passengers in sight and wonder if you can solo ride a Dropship as an offence?

Assault Drop Ships have a pilot operated turret.

those things are called assault dropships. The special kind of dropships with 3 turrets. (One of which you can operate.)

I've done this ad got a random kill and equipment destroyed equipment but I tested which seat would be closer to my cockpit and how far up I'd have to be to get the shot and survive

either ads or some1 like me chasing u with a basic dropship to land on u for the kill (I've gone 8-0 just landing on people with the basic gallant dropship) |

Before you invest in one, be sure to watch Judge Rhadamanthus' Tutorial Video Series. Practice maneuvers in a MLT dropship and see if it's something you're interested in/ good at. Join First Airborne chat channel and squad up with other pilots or ask for advice or to test drive one of theirs (I'd love to sell you one of my but I'm away at Uni).
Just remember, they're really difficult to master and they are one of the most expensive professions in the game.
