the problem with dem dare assalt droopships is that they aren't on the ground fighting me like a reeel mang, dare cowards and stuff and I shuds be able to like kill dem with my arrsalt rifle yo....
****ing ground scum won't be happy till you get eve flavoured cod... and no that isn't a type of ****ing fish snack.
1 forge will drive off an ADS easily now, 2 will knock it from the sky in seconds if the shooters are good, which sadly many forge gunners are lately, an ADS can fly in a way that makes it harder to be killed, but it also makes it a lot harder to be remotely useful now. |

Sir Snugglz is a special kind of person and cannot be used for balance arguments. What he can be used as, however, is as an I win button against tanks.
And I cannot say how good Forge Guns are now in 1.8 since I haven't had the chance to play but in 1.7 I 2 shotted down pretty much every ADS that came in my way with my Ishukone Assault Forge Gun with 2 dmg mods and prof 4. 3 shotted if they activated their hardener. And if Python activated 2 hardeners I had to wait and see if he's stupid or brave enough to stay after the hardeners were done. And I know Sir Snugglz (usually?) doesn't use hardeners in PC and you say you cannot take him down with 2 synched Forgers? Lol.
R.I.P. Pre-1.7 tanks, you will be missed.

the knockback is insane, even with mlt swarms and armored dropships

forge gunners can keep a dropship away from a key location, even if they don't kill it
and swarms are probably better against them now than they were before
so your argument about being chased to the redline in a railtank and killed isn't really valid

A militia rail with two damage mods (costing all of 70k) will three shot my fully skilled double hardened Incubus (costing 500k) in 0.7 seconds after the first shot announces its presence.
That's less than one god damned second while I'm in the height of my completely laughable "wave of opportunity".
You are crying about not being good enough to keep your aim on that huge hit box for 0.7secods? You have the audacity to call that OP? You think they should go down in two shots when at their strongest? You need to be able to do it in 0.35 seconds or you can't do it at all?!?

Dropships seem pretty good to me. They are hard to kill but not impossible, and they can be driven off, they can't hide easily so they can't just sneak around the corner for a few seconds. From my perspective things look reasonably well balanced, good pilots make it hard and bad pilots go boom.

Anyway, you basically proved the point I was going to make. You admitted that your damage mod was down (remember windows of opportunity). Instead of waiting for your window you decided to shoot too quickly. With that damage mod you would have easily taken me down with those two shots.
My build is specifically designed to take the hardest hits for as many times as I can. From one fully proto forge/rail tanker (no damage mods) is 3 hits with the 3rd leaving me with up to 600 armor to the lowest 65 armor (if you get the sweet spot).
With damage mods its 2 hit survival rate.

I actually have my sensitivity at around 85-90. While a lower sensitivity allows you to steady the ads/turret, I'm always on the move and need to be able to rotate 360 degrees as fast as possible.

This is actually my main goal against tanks. My main priority is to keep tanks away from the fight and like you, many run to the redline. I never go for the kill unless I am 100% I can do it without redline suicide. As long as I make a tank retreat I am happy. Remember, PC is not about KDR.
And just because you dont kill me, you made me leave the battle and thats a positive, even if it was for a couple of seconds, which is why I love my fit, I can easily return to the battle after taking damage and that's the goal which is why I dont run boosters/hardeners. (Not saying they are not viable, only that they do not fit my play-style).

As to your story, I cant take all the credit. Foxhound Elite has been my main PC ADS wingman for many battles. I dont think I can fly as fast and close to any other pilot. Our ability to communicate and respond to each is unbelievable. Most of the tanks know me because I tend to focus on vehicle support while Foxhound supports infantry which goes back to my previous comment, My main goal is to keep you tankers busy so my wingman Fox can do his thing. But there have been many occasions where I would request help to take out tanks in the redline, or get help from my tanks too. I not the only one dealing the damage most of the time. I get the kills because the tank gets out of range from my tanks and have me finish it off because they cant.
Also, Because of the redline tanking that these past patches have brought us, I have become very familiar/comfortable with being in the enemy redline. I know how far and how long I can stay there, how many shots I can shoot, and when I need to turn back. Majority of the time I make it out at 0.3-0.5 seconds left. I have no problem chasing a tank into their redline.
Final thought, I only do good because of the tank support I get. There have been many times against AE/FA where they would focus 2-3 tanks to shut me down. I have gone down to many forges too. Even if they dont kill me, they keep me away from doing my job. There are ways to shut me down and 1v1 is not one them. Tactics is key. Its like chess, every move has its counter move and that's how I define balance. I can say that ADS can be countered by rails, forges, even swarms.... just need to learn how.
P.S. that 3244 shield fit is no longer my PC fit. Me and Fox have a new secwet fit and its... to die for!!! <= get it. that's a pun.

Thanks bro, Also if you look at 2:30 you'll see what i mean by being patient with that window of opportunity. I chased a tank, he activiated his hardeners (3x i think). Then I stop shooting and wait until they finished...
