Because I enjoy the game itself. It is the first FPS that I have actually convinced dear old dad to play (hell, he started first). I like driving around in my tank, I like killing people with my Caldari Assault suit. The investment aspect is appealing as well.
Do I have my gripes? Absolutely but I still think the game is fun, even if it does feel that there are serious things lacking at the moment.

I like dust because ive played MAG/All The C.O.D's/BF3/section 8/HALO/MOH and mastered them all, and i think that dust has a cool community side that no other game has and i love the way that you can make an army of good friends, even tho theres loads of glitches its still a fun game to play.
8th in the world for kills.
NOT GONNA STOP SLAYING TILL IM NO.1.

I'm just here for the killing...really...I love that there is an actual person on the other end cursing my name when my Sniper kills them.
There is nothing more fun than when someone comes back to kill me and then the 1 vs 1 mode kicks in and that is the best.
Another reason is the way that the game makes me think of new ways of making isk. Not for my own personal gain of course,  because I do like to hand it out from time to time.

At this point, I'm just keeping my gun game kinda tight for Destiny.
I lost faith and genuine interest in this game several patches ago and they've done little to nothing to win me back.
I feel like a posttraumatic injury physical therapist when I play. It's like watching somebody that can remember how to run relearn how to walk with weak, wobbly legs failing them the entire way.

No seriously I can only put it down to SP addiction, crying about OP stuff because I dont use it, waiting for the grand day CCP does something right etc etc
Am just a name in a long list of sad bastards that pray to God one day the game will be as good as Closed Beta build but only with all the stuff they promised so long ago.
Oh and I keep playing to see Drones and maybe pick up a NPC mission for isk the potential is out there and when it happens I will be here waiting. |

I became interested in Dust due to the sci-fi FPS/RPG with a competitive game mode integrated in. I've stayed for the sheer pleasure of building and trying new suits. This game has far more aspects to it than any other FPS on the market today. If the game was finished and not so buggy I wouldn't be surprised if it would be a top tier game.
Now with the PS4 out I doubt this game, even when finished, will be a competitor in the market unless it makes the move to the PS4. I can't say it's a dying game based on the pure fact that new players still join everyday, but those stats don't include how many veteran players leave every day either.
I hope CCP will turn Dust into a finished, balanced, product sometime in the near future so we can all enjoy it together. Play it like how it's meant to be played. By rumor Dust was only projected to be around for 5 years as CCP stated long ago. I'm not sure how accurate this information is to date but we're already a couple years in now. My hope is that when it's finished, balanced and bug free the player base will grow and we can enjoy the game for the last bit of the for seen future.

I don't play Dust for the friends so my perspective is different than some.
CCP has my attention with this game, it is different than other FPS that are simply epeen and numbers going up. nothing really matters on other games. you control nothing, affect nothing.
I play it because it is a new war every update.
I play because it is hard and makes lesser gamers quit outright.
The mechanics are not right yet imo. There needs to be a more aggressive stance to this game.
The Dust entity should be a thorn in the side of Eve.
As mercs are rare in number compared to capsuleers we should be a highly sought after commodity.
Same for Valk pilots.
I hope to see that day so i keep playing,
Because beer, that's why.

I play DUST 514 because:
I enjoy it,
it has deep progression,
high customisation,
tactical diversity,
totally unqiue features not found in other shooters,
is F2P,
has Minmatar in it,
scouts,
it will keep evolving and growing,
my merc will grow and evolve with it,
I could list many more.
