Has anyone ever considered running multiple scanners, and would it be worth it? I am Proto Gallente Logi, so obviously scans are what I focus on.
Often I find myself waiting for the cooldown on my scanner, and I can't keep vision for my squad often enough. This leads me to running the proxy scanner, which does let me keep vision 100% of the time, but the scan angle, precision, and range, is painfully low, I can't pick up scouts.
So, I switch over to my fit with the focused scanner, which does pick up scouts, but the cooldown is painfully long, and really gimps my ability to provide vision for my squad.
it just occured to me to run 2 scanners, a focused one, and either a regular or proxy scanner. This lets me pick up scouts, and provide constant vision for my team.
I haven't tried it yet (i'm not near home), but what do you guys think? |

Yup, it's a great tactic. While not practical for every pub match, gallente logis running multiple scanners are invaluable (not to mention rare) in PC matches. |

I did it pre 1.8 just for tears, it is nice and if you are in a good squad of killers then it makes decent WP

What do I think?
I think that it's a real shame that Active Scanners exist, and provides a reliable crutch for people who can't rely on situational awareness.

Its also a shame that the loudest vehicle in the game(tanks) shows up less on the radar than a heavy dropsuit.

That is supposedly a bug. Seems to be low on the priority list, sadly. |

Having two scanners just to mitigate their long re-spool times is a waste of a valuable equipment slot. The cone is already small and the scan significantly lessened that essentially you're doing the same thing as someone who has three damage mods on their dropsuits. The second and third one, in this build, is pretty much a waste. It would do you better to place an equipment piece that has value over time instead of just having two scanners. All just to have a scan on enemies? If you wish to use the scan, cool. Use battlefield awareness as your impromptu scanner.
TL:DR? The value of any other piece of equipment far outweighs the proposition of carrying two scans just to mitigate the long re-spool times and the short scans.

If you want your scans on 100% of the time, then just run a Proto Caldari Scout.

Honestly though, there are many FPS titles that we have experienced as a whole that has some sort of scanning operation involved. It's not a crutch, its a part of the e war. What made the scanners to be considered as crutch is when we supported the idea to have Intel WPs added to it.
Scanners were in the game long before that and before the multitudes noticed it. I was using a scan just on the benefit that I noticed when I watched Jungian play on Twitch. I skilled into just for the intel to help my team. It wasn't a crutch.
It's interesting that folks complained about it when all it took was some skilling into profile dampening to lessen its impact.
